It may not be the IUD

I am 39 years old, I had my Mirena inserted in 2003 when I was 36, and at first I had the symptoms everyone else has been describing, mood swings, depression, weight gain, facial hair grew back more quickly then usual, back pain, and menstrual cramping much like contractions. I did not want to remove the IUD as I was recently remarried, and unsure as to whether I wanted more children. We have three combined already, 6,7,8 year old girls. So you can understnad our concern in having more children.
Anyway, I started to realize that it might not be the IUD, but life in general and getting older. Four months ago, I joined Weight Watchers and lost 13lbs and still losing, I spoke to my doctor at length about the way I had been feeling and he placed me on a low dose of Welbutrin, I exercise daily (yes I work full time, I get up at 5:45 a.m. to do this before my husband leaves for work and the kids get up). I still get mentrual cramps, not as bad (Motrin helps alot) but the overtired feeling, and the aches and pains are gone. The severe mood swings and Depression have subsided. I know we would like to blame the IUD, its an easy answer, but I beleive this IUD was made for women who have already had children, with that comes stress. I needed to take better care of myself, and I have and it has made a difference.
On another note, one woman in this blog wants to commence a class action lawsuit because she had an etopic preganancy, I am an attorney, I do not practice in this area, but to the best of my knowledge, that is one of the risks that women are advised of prior to insertion. Since we are on notice, I do not beleive you can commence a class action suit.
