Re: Mirena IUD Side Effects
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Nothing anyone can say or do can help with that either. I had Mirena put in when my last child was about 9 months old. I have had severe mood swings, horrible PMS, and a huge weight gain. I had lost almost 50 lbs after the birth of my third child, and now have gained back 25. My doctor said it isn't the Mirena, but if I gain a few more
pounds he can do gastric bypass, so now I too am looking for a new practioner. It is ridiculous for medical professionals to dismiss us because it is not the normal reaction. My words to them are that Penicilin is a miracle drug for some and a killer to others. No one knows how Mirena will work for them or what the possible side effects may be. Mirena probably works fabulously for many women or it would be off the shelf. Unfortunately women like us are the minority who have ill effects of it. Another thing I think is that the drug reps who sell these products are paid to sell. That means they will tell the doctors and CNM's that there are no ill effects. I am going to write a letter to the head of the clinic I attend, as well as the manufacturer of Mirena to let them know that many women are having terrible syptoms. I am having my Mirena removed on March 19th and I cannot wait. I hope you begin your long path towards healing. I truly am sorry for you. I have only had a couple of miscarriages. I cannot imagine the heartbreak of a stillborn baby. Take care, Shi
