Re: Seriously confused Depression was serious!
I can seriously tell you that having the Mirena IUD put in was the worst mistake I ever made. Six weeks after I had my son via C-Section I went to my GYN and had him put in the IUD (3 of my girlfriends use it and never had problems). Almost immediatly I began having problems I bled for 4 months and then spotted 3 days out of every week. I suffered extreme
Depression (never experienced that before) and was misdiagnosed with postpartum; which I knew it wasn't to blame. I lost my sex drive, gained 20 pounds, had pain with intercourse, and bleeding after sex. I was also tender in my abdomen for over a year.... I KNEW IT WAS THE IUD but refused to believe it because I was having depressive thoughts. I even contemplated suicide a few times. STUPID ME! After suffering for 15 months I finally one morning woke up with severe pain in my abdomen and went to the ER. The attending doctor immediatly removed my IUD and told me I was one of the few women who not only are sensitive to the hormonal changes but also reject the device. My body had been telling me all along to get the damn thing out I just wasn't listening. I had the IUD removed a week ago and can say that as soon as he removed it my pain went away, i've lost 4
pounds in 6 days, and my sex drive seems to be coming back.. plus no crazy thoughts, depression, or fatigue. I can honestly say that I would not recommend the Mirena IUD to anyone, since there is no way to determine who will have these serious side effects that could cause unstable health and possibly mental duress and suicide. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms I hope you do not ignore your symptoms and suffer for as long as I did.... it wasn't worth it.
