Re: Mirena IUD Side Effects

I had my Mirena put in last June, and had nothing but problems from day one. I had constant infections, really nasty ones; I'd get rid of one and another would start up about a week later. I bled constantly for about three months, I put lots of weight on, including the 9lbs that I had just managed to lose; but I thought this was due to going back on Tamoxifen. It's only since I started doing some reading that I have realised that it's the Mirena that is to blame as well. I stopped taking Tamoxifen last September, but the weight stayed on and in fact increased. The water retention was and still is chronic, my ankles would blow up as soon as my feet hit the floor in the morning. I suffered memory loss and mild Depression and now know that it's all due to the synthetic progesterone that has been pumping into me for the last year.

I had the Mirena taken out last Thursday, figuring that since it was put in to counteract what the Tamoxifen was doing, and I wasn't taking it any more, then I didn't need it.
I now read that women who have had Breast Cancer shouldn't have it put in anyway, which I am very angry about.

I feel 100% better psychologically just knowing that that thing isn't there any more, poisoning me and messing up my hormones any more. I will report back in another week. Hopefully a couple of these gallons of water I've been carrying about for the last year and a half might have drained away by then.

My body has been taken over by the medical profession for the last three and a half years. I've been diced and sliced, poked and prodded and medicated, so now I'm re-taking control. This is the only way I can finally put the cancer behind me. Watch this space. Thanks to all the people who posted here and helped me to realise that I didn't need this contraption!
