OMG - can't tell you how glad i am to find this forum,I had suffered very heavy periods since my last child(01') and terrible pmt - like i was unliveable with (even i did not want to live with me any more!), let alone my poor hubbie and kids. I had mirena fitted in oct 04', got severe back pain from day one for 2 wks, could hardly stand up (not good when you have 2 young kids), then bleed for 3 months non-stop, clots and all, could not tell if if was having a period or bleeding, went for 3 mths check up and told them that also i had lost my sex drive, (put that down to bleeding all the time)!, As the months went on did not seem to have a normal bleed, would be 3 weeks bleeding and a week off - thought it was supposed to be the other way round!! I did have a normal month and thought that that was it and it was settling in, but no - started bleeding on-off again, now in month 13 and things seem to be settling down, had a normal period last month and no bleeding now for nearly 3 wks. I was relieved to read though that other people had experienced simlar symptons to mine, bloated stomach, breast tenderness,
Acne (not been this bad since a teenager), very bad facial hair and other areas!! I have not been able to lose any weight for a year and greasy hair. Last week i had a pelvic scan and it uncovered an enlarged left overy with small cycts - this indicates polycyctic overies or in my case pcos, The symptoms are very simlar to those associated with mirina -weight gain, bloated stomach, acne, facial hair etc and i was thinking had anyone else been checked out for the same thing? I saw my dr today and have agreed to keep the mirina in for another 2 months and am having a blood
Sugar glucoce check this week as insulin rissistance is an indiction of pcos.
