Re: Mirena IUD Side Effects
I had my Mirena removed one week ago. I had all of the side effects named above--severe cramps, always tired, bleeding, mood swings, loss of sex drive, dryness, etc. My relationship with my family detoriated, however, we are on the way to mending it now. I went to a number of different doctors compalining of the pain and the desire to remove the IUD. No doctor would listen. On January 30, 2008, I had my gallbladder removed and during the surgery, my surgeon found that the Mirena had perforated my uterus. He demanded that it be removed ASAP, because it was headed for the small intestine. This was a Godsend. Had the surgeon not noticed the perforation, I would still have the Mirena, as no doctor would listen. Needless to say, I suffered for nearly six months. There was physical and emotional pain and not to mention a huge financial loss with all of the surgeries. I had the Mirena inserted after the birth of my baby in August of 2007. At 23 years old, I never would have imagined to feel such pain- the birth of my child was less pain that what I experienced with Mirena. I would never recommend the Mirena to anyone!! I am slowly on my way back to recovery as my body has went through a tremendous shock.
