Re: Mirena IUD Side Effects

I wanted to interjet my comments and questions. I appologize for entering into a forum that is run by females, but I am a concerned husband who isn't sure what to do and I am looking for some advice. My wife has had the Mirena IUD since late 2001, and I have long suspected that it has been the cause of many issues she has been experiencing. After reading many of the messages on this forum I am thinking that my suspitions have been correct. She has been experiencing many of the symptoms that have been expressed on this forum and then some. I have mentioned to her that getting the IUD removed might be a good idea, but I was looking for an opinion. One of her more major symptoms seems to be periodic depression, moreso than is typically associated with PMS or pregnancy. This seems to be the best place to get advice from women who have experienced the Mirena firsthand. We are curently separated due to the fact that I am in the military and I know that this plays a role in her mood, but I really think there is more to it than that. I would appreciate any feedback I could get. She had the Mirena inserted right before we were married because we weren't ready to have children yet. I have tried to research the side effects, but there doesn't seem to be much out there that doesn't downplay them. I would love to be a more involved husband and I could use the advice of anyone who can tell me any information about it. The gynocologyst said the same thing that many on this forum have reiterated, that the problem was her and not the Mirena. We have since moved to another location and are looking to seek the advice of someone else. Please offer any advice or opinions. I am open to any information that I can gain. Be aware that we are concerned, too. Thank you for any input and suggestions.
