Re: The Effects of John E. Machine on Water
I've seen this thread periodically throughout the years and I felt like adding to it. I've known about the Living water machine made by John E. for years and this thread, easily found on Google is probably the biggest reason that's kept me on the side of the fence of not buying it. I don't like hearing about people complaining about how somebody doesn't guarantee their product or offer refunds if they're not satisfied with it. Also, you will never talk to a real person if you call the number listed on his website which makes me wonder about if an expensive proprietary part breaks (read many complaints), how I'll be stuck with a 2 grand paperweight). That being said, a while back, I purchased off E-bay, 1.5 gallons of this special water for about $30. My experience is that it probably is some of the most pure water I've tasted, notably, no plastic taste that comes with bottled waters and it was very light. It made me think of what the water would taste and smell like from a violent thunderstorm. There was no bad aftertaste and adding a small amount to other filtered water seemed to make it better too (As they directed). I would probably buy it over any other bottled water in the store if not for the price. Is there any other machines that do the exact same thing for less than $1700/2500 dollars LWM4/5(If there is even much of a difference in water quality of the two models).
I know there's many scammers rebranding products like how Fred Van Liew's eWater shower filter for $170 a ripped off Aquasana shower filter with an eWater sticker on it, except for the fact Aquasana's is half the price. I didn't realize this until I got a "really good deal" on eBay for a replacement filter (Almost half price) and the paperwork stated that it replaced models... (eWater, Johnathon, Aquasana etc.)
Also in my ventures for pure water, The Vitalizer plus had caught my eye, but I wasn't willing to pay $500 just to experiment. I eventually settled on a used one for less than half price on eBay. I used the Aquasana (eWater) shower filter source and run it for 9 minutes. I'd like to say it makes the water taste a bit more fresh but who knows, it could be the placebo effect. However, I did use this water to make a pot of rice without telling anybody and was commented on that it was the best rice they'd ever tasted and wondered what I did different. So I don't know, maybe it really does make it better. I've continued to use it.
I plan to do a double-blind test with tap water, filtered Vitalizer plus water, John E. water and the former with a few drops of the John E. water to get the most honest opinions of what is/isn't snake oil or works and I may post back later with the results.
