Re: !!BEWARE!! Crystal Clear Energized Water machine and John E. !! Beware of this machine!!
Bludini,
I just got off the phone with John E. himself after talking to Phil on multiple occasions. I have to admit that I thought you were embellishing a bit in your posts but now I have dealt with Mr. Ellis first hand. To say he is an a**hole is an understatement.
My dad purchased the 'Electron 4' Water and Air machine recently after a recommendation from a friend of his.
My problem is that my dad bought this machine in hopes that it would help him with some of his medical ailments and he was uncomfortable doing the initial setup and break in. He asked me if I would set it up at my house and make a few gallons of the distilled water for him to try. I obliged and brought the machine to my house and set it up. After I distilled the first gallon of water and let it cool for a while I tried a glass of it. What I got was the most vile tasting water I have EVER tasted in my life. The water has a very strong petroleum or burned plastic taste to it and is virtually unpalatable.
I read in the manual that there is a 'break in' period so I thought that maybe I just needed to run a few more gallons through it and the awful taste would subside. Well, 16 Gallons later it still had the bad taste to it and I started my birage of phone calls to Phil at Crystal Clear. Phil was unable to help me after 5 separate calls to him and he also told me that the bad taste should have gone away after one or two
quarts of distilled water had passed through.
He then put me in touch with John who never even listened to the whole story I had to tell him and then proceeded to go off on some non-sequitur rant that had absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand.
He went on and on quoting the rhetoric posted on his website over and over again.
What he was saying had absolutely NOTHING to do with what I was calling about.
After trying to get a word in edgewise for over 10 minutes I finally told him that the water just plain tasted bad and I could smell the burned plastic / petroleum odor while it was distilling and that I thought that it was an electrical cord that might have been installed to closely to the internal heating element and it was literally burning it. I said that I didn't think that was normal especially after reading on this forum and others that the machine allegedly produced the best tasting water ever.
I told him that I was an electrical engineer and had been one for 25 years and I was pretty sure of what I was smelling and tasting.
Now, here is the most amazing part. He actually told me that if I didn't like the taste of the water that what I should do is go and buy a water filter and run the distilled water through it before I drank it. He then gave me the bums rush and hung up on me saying 'have a nice weekend' before he did.
I called back about 10 minutes later to talk to Phil and tell him what John had said to me and apparently John was near Phil and picked up the phone and listened in as I was telling Phil what he had said to me. After I told Phil that I thought that was a pretty shabby way to treat a customer that had just spent $1700.00 on one of their products, John interrupted and said "well, you are an electrical engineer, take it apart and see what is causing the burning smell and taste." I said I would and then John hung up the extension phone and then I could hear him in the background on the phone intercom saying to Phil that I was crazy and that none of this could possibly happen. When I told Phil that I could hear what John was saying about me he then hurried up and also gave me the bums rush and hung up on me.
I am so furious I am seeing red!!!
My message to anyone out there that is considering buying one of these POS machines is: DON'T!!!
I am glad that it was not my money that got ripped off and fortunately my dad is wealthy enough that he can absorb a loss like that but you are soooo right when you talk about what a scam and rip off this guy is. It is hard to believe he has been getting away with this for 30 years.
I want you to know that I was as absolutely diplomatic as I could have been and I never raised my voice or anything while I was addressing either one of these yahoos because it had already become crystal clear (pardon the pun) to me that John was sort of a hot head by reading some of the posts on this forum and others. Phil was overall very congenial (and clueless) but John is a real piece of work.
This machine may actually be great for your health and do what it says but I will never find that out because the water it produces is so foul that I wouldn't give it to my dogs. And yes, I know full well that there are those of you out there that absolutely think the water tastes wonderful but this is not the case here.
The worst part is that John would rather shout on the phone intercom to Phil that I am crazy than to make a sincere effort to help me solve this problem.
John E. is a con artist, a rip-off, and a thief. Not to mention that he is a genuine jerk that only cares enough to get your money and then you are just another sap that he has fleeced!
