Re: Get a grip on yourself 79513. (EDITED)

Ok, to be fair, yes, a lot of the time men do have to pay child support and do not have a say in how the child is raised IF that couple is not granted joint custody. However, in many cases, the reason a couple does not get joint custody is if one of the parents is deemed as unfit in one way or another that would be detrimental to the child. Usually, it is the man that is not granted partial custody - I will give you that. In many cases, the male will walk out on a situation and leave the female to do all the child rearing. You KNOW this is true traditionally. Many men do not WANT to deal with it and leave the woman to do it all. Those that do want to and are deemed fit to parent, should get joint or custody (or full custody if the woman is unfit). IF a man is deemed unfit to parent by the courts, he should still have to pay for raising that child HE helped create. If the woman is deemed unfit, she should still have to pay for raising that child SHE helped create. The goal should be fariness and equality, not an insistence that at no time should the man be forced to pay for his created offspring. BOTH parents need to be forced to pay; ideally they will both do so willingly.
