Austin is a huge city. There are several cities nearby, which is good. I retired near Austin and love it. Been here for 8 months now. Austin is more liberal than the rest of Texas. Not quite like California. I'm from California. Hot and humid though. Forbes magazine, AARP, and Money magazine have placed Austin in there top 10 places to retire for years. I think it is due to the universities and community colleges in the area as well as the health care. That's what people need when they retire. Activity and health. Whole Foods Market started and is headquartered here; so I assume CZ people would like this place.
It is also a good place for younger people. Live music capitol of the U.S. Many high tech firms for work.
