Re: GAS model outdated and inaccurate...

"Then that is the very reason to include a cautionary note in the "AF" section. What if someone comes in asking for help thinking they have "AF" when they are suffering from the effects of starvation instead?"

Well why don't we just put a cautionary note on every board about under-eating? Because is its impractical and likely not the cause of the problem.

Your definitions of starvation and calorie restriction blur. Starvation: suffering or death caused by hunger. A severe deficiency in caloric energy, nutrient, and vitamin intake. It is the most extreme form of malnutrition. In humans, prolonged starvation can cause permanent organ damage[1] and eventually, death.

Calorie Restriction: calorie restriction, is a dietary regimen that is based on low calorie intake. "Low" can be defined relative to the subject's previous intake before intentionally restricting calories, or relative to an average person of similar body type.

Also, since you're warning everyone about under-eating, "starvation", you may want to also warn them about refeeding syndrome.

1 in 6 Americans face hunger. Hunger! Not starvation. If I go a day without eating I'll face hunger. Sh*t! If I go without breakfast I'll face hunger.
