Re: GAS model outdated and inaccurate...
T-nation is not the reference, just a mere location for the article, written by a naturopathic doctor with a PHD. (Trying to use wiredgeneration's logic is only going to end poorly for you and before you know it you'll be resorting to insults just like him).
The fact that it can be found on a bodybuilding website has nothing to do with its validity.
You wrote: "Interesting. He doesn't mention Dr Hans Selye, his work, or the General Adaptation Syndrome?"
So you either aren't familiar with the GAS stages or didn't read the article. Either way you look ignorant because you either A) commented on something without reviewing it, or B) don't have a clue about what you are talking about because the GAS stages are clearly listed in the article.
"Dr Selye tested the results of stress over and over. Regardless of the stressor, the stages were the same. "
Evidently not. Apparently, according to the article, written by a naturopathic doctor, the first 2 stages can be skipped. Hence, the title "outdated and inaccurate".
"The fact the some have low adrenal function their whole life has no impact on the fact that anyone who experiences enough stress will go through the stages."
Again, you need to read the article. I'll give you a synopsis. Low cortisol can occur for more reasons other than poor adrenal function. But had you ever read anything regarding the physiology of the adrenal glands you'd probably know that.
