Re: GAS model outdated and inaccurate...
I get what your saying, BUT...I'm pretty certain that there have been those that have died from over exerting their hearts (from EXTREME exercising). I could be wrong, I'll have to look this information up...Just for fun, however, let's use cocaine for an example. Nope, matter of fact, lets say steroids and methamphetamines...only because I actually personally know of a case in which this occurred. So this guy was on steroids and meth simulataneously...unfortunately he didn't make it. Now, I didn't review the autopsy report, but I believe that his heart popped, or in medical terminology, he had a "heart attack".
Now you can say that, yes he was ingesting drugs, which is different than stress, but is it really so different? If they are both causing the organs to perform beyond what they are capable of, are they not, for all intents and purposes, similar? The adrenals, however don't "pop". Instead they shutdown, or "gas out" and remain depeleted until they are nutritionally supported back to health. All the while they still have a job to do, which makes recovery a long time because people can't typcially just stop what they are doing (jobs, school) and relax to heal their adrenals. As well, there is a lot of misinformation on how to heal them; paleo diet, for example.
