Re: GAS model outdated and inaccurate...

I am not downplaying it all. I said it was a stressor. But you are kind of overplaying it. It is the only stressor you ever mention.

There are all kinds of stressors. Environmental (toxins, emf) Physical (excessive exercise, pain) Infection. Emotional. Inherited stress (such as prenatal cortisol exposure, epigenetic gene activation).

I don't really know why most doctors have not made the connection. If it is bad enough, people get a diagnosis of Addison's or adrenal insufficiency.

but it seems like people can still feel super bad....even though they are above the threshold for Addison's.

In the late 70's, they told my mom she was almost Addison's....and put her in valium for 5 years.

So in my case... the prenatal cortisol exposure led to me being stuck in fight or flight my whole life. I was super active, triathlete, super motivated, excessive startle response.

My mom was one of 16 kids. so I have lots of uncles, aunts, cousins. The same has happened to all of them. Super motivated, high energy.... until they crash and get all the same symptoms as people on the AF Forum. (afternoon energy crash, insomnia, impatience, etc).

Your family doctor has 5 minutes to listen to your symptoms and figure out what is wrong with you.

Chronic stress does much to your body than just affect your adrenals as well. Hypoglycemia can result if you can't produce enough cortisol or epinephrine to raise blood sugar.

Chronic stress can also lead to hyperventilation syndrome ...which causes many symptoms. Years of your body dumping magnesium and zinc during stress causes lots of symptoms.

dehydration from low Aldosterone is common. Many people with AF don't sweat any more. I didn't sweat for about 10 years. I am now since I am recovering.

Lets see... what else. Your body does not detoxify well during stress. Over many years, toxins accumulate and become a source of symptoms.

The point is that stress trashes your body in many ways. there are so many symptoms. Doctors can't makes sense of it all in the 5 minutes they have to listen to you. This is why people are usually accused of making it all up.... or "its all in your head".

Look...I appreciate that you have flagged low caloric intake as one possible stressor. But there are lots of stressors.
