Re: GAS model outdated and inaccurate...
I fully support people taking appropriate medicine (natural or pharma) if it improves the quality of their life or helps speed up the healing process, but as you eluded to, are those medicines actually helping to heal, or are they just bandaids and as soon as you stop you crash again?
I personally think all those glandulars and herbs like licorice and ashwaganda are just stimulants no real better or different than coffee. I also think that's why some people feel better after doing
coffee enemas so might as well just drink it to get it in rather than get it into your body the "alternative" way.
Well at least two of those you mention fall into the category of what I think "AF" really is by their own admission, so it's not surprise to me why they weren't holding up.
Craving salt is more evidence to my belief because under-eating will cause both
Sugar and salt cravings because of low glucose intake and low mineral intake. I've known a couple people who under-ate and always put a ton of salt on their food. I hadn't made the connection before. Under-eating can cause low blood pressure and low blood
Sugar as well. I'm not saying under-eating is the only cause of all these symptoms, but I'm just pointing out that it can cause all those symptoms.
As for your own situation, you know I recommend you double check what I tell everyone to as to make sure you're getting enough calories as listed
here and also know what your macro ratio is in case you want to experiment with a different diet style as both C.B. and I don't recommend low-carb diets, but rather higher-carb/lower-fat diets although we disagree on the optimum HCLF macro ratio.
A lot of people here were clearly not getting enough calories for the amount of exercising they were doing and if these people were taking a lot of stimulants, those can suppress appetite and almost guarantee calorie-restriction. The feel of needing more and more stimulants would be a big clue to that.
I think getting enough sleep is just as important as getting enough calories (of the right calories) and also being hydrated. I think if those three things alone are all being met, that would heal 90% of the people here.
