Hello, first of all posting here with Firefox 26.0 seems to be impossible (never logs in no matter what), so I had to use another browser. There might be a connection between PCOS and the ”normal” defecation posture (and a lot of other ailments (prostate problems, hemorrhoids, acid reflux, colon problems, etc. etc. etc.)). yeah, I sometimes jump up with my feet on the toilet seat in a squat position, hold onto the towl bar next to me on the wall and just go. you have to be careful this way and have a good sense of balance(would be nice to have more space for my feet). otherwise, on less exciting days, I just use one of those stacking crates (used for organizing) - I turn it upside down and it elevates my feet into a better position to go.   [End]

Molly, I’ve found the best way to get into a good position is to have a little stool (the furnature kind), that I put in front of the loo, and pop my feet on. The aim is to achieve a position where your knees are just slightly higher than the top of your pelvic bone. If you want to get that position you’d get more of in a third world situation, you can put a short stool under your feet to raise your knees-- Or, say, a couple of phone books. :-) This shortens the toilet. Then, to really get the full authentic experience, (well, of a Turkish hotel that is, with NO toilet tissue in sight) you can buy one of these clip on contraptions that go right on top of your existing seat, and squirt you with some cool water they get from being hooked up to the toilet intake. Hi Missy, although its good to have a squat toilet, sitting in squatting position outside the bathroom is simply a good exercise ( yoga pose) which opens the pelvis and facilitates the evacuation of bowels. Sit in that pose for 5-10 minutes . Or longer if you can handle it. I usually try to read a book, or watch TV while squatting and it feels good. Sometimes if I am feeling heavy in the abdomen, I pass gas in this pose and then feel better. LOL BTW this yoga pose is called Mal-asana. Mal is a hindi word for impurities. I squat right outside the bathroom door, and in that position read a few pages of some book. As soon as the pressure builds up, I hurry to the bathroom to evacuate. Unfortunately I have a western style toilet. I am from India and I love squatting toilets. Early in the morning, after cleaning my teeth, I drink 3-4 glasses of lukewarm water. Please do squatting excercise. Sit in squatting position as long as you can sit. Drink lots of lukewarm water first thing in morning. Squatting really fixed my problems and I have tried a lot of things. I try to squat and read a book and it builds up pressure inside my intestines. I have to rush to toilet to poop. Hi Suz. I’ve never heard of MMS causing any intestinal or rectal bleeding. Have you have any change in bowel movement at all with MMS, no D at all? MMS actually stopped my intestinal bleeding but did this more so when it initially caused more D and I like Amato used 15drops once a day but lime activated and with pinapple juice. The only way to get a diagnosis is to consult a doctor who should do an examination such as a sigmoidoscopy to be sure but the most likely is haemorroids or maybe diverticulosis or some injury to the rectum. The Psyllium in your P&B shake is known to make things like Crohn’s worse. MMS can also irritate if you get excessive diarrhea. I would quit taking those shakes and get the necessary fiber someplace else. Since you don’t have any serious condition you shouldn’t be in any hurry to build up some large MMS dose. Trap I didn’t think too much of it at the time, but back in Nov when my Iodine intake was in the 900mg -1.1gr/day I would get nasel drip that really burned the senstive skin area under the nose. On my trips to India, most of the homes there have squatting type toilets, which is great, I’m pretty regular but when I’m visiting India I notice BMs are more quicker and more satisfying. Also, I’ve seen old people in their 80’s who use the squatting toilets and they don’t have any problems with them and then I see some healthy teens here in Canada who can’t even squat much less use a squat type toilet, on my last trip my nephew had accompanied me and even though he works out regularly and is in good shape he couldn’t squat for long and had to use the western type toilet.   [End]

I dunno, I seem to do it instinctively now, well, ever since I’ve been eliminating better. For example, I just took two days ”off” iodine, I didn’t plan on it - I just did it instinctively. So, at least for me, as long as I’m drinking enough water daily to urinate properly, and taking the LBB’s help me to have regular BM’s, I’m able to instinctively know when to take iodine and when to take a break. I actually agree with your doctor here (which is shocking). They showed me a picture of the stone from the CAT scan and there was only one, and it was sitting right in the bladder. The CAT scan was done just minutes after the pain began to go away. I’m suffering from a kidney stone myself since last October and it definitely is the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. The first time I got that pain I felt like I was gona die or something, and had to be ambulanced to the hospital, where they gave a bunch of pain killers that didn’t do much and then they gave morphine which helped a little, after that the pain suddenly went away then another attack happened a couple of weeks thereafter. It was a kidney stone. About 3mm in diameter. It was passing through my ureter, and according to the CAT scan is now sitting my bladder waiting to leave. I live in India. while I am not sure of the number, my guess is over 90% of Indians living in India squat to relieve their bowels. Its considered healthy and its also considered to be more hygenic. A large proportion of urban city homes have ”indian style ” potties and most publice toilets will have a majority of such potties. No problem. I always enjoy reading what you’ve been up to. Singapore is a completely modern, progressive Asian city. In many ways, it’s just like America. They dress like us, speak English, watch our movies and TV, eat our food, etc. In the public bathrooms they typically have several thrones and at least one if not several squatties. They also have amazingly clean public bathrooms, with public campaigns for clean bathrooms. Homes usually have at least one throne. So it depends on the individual but squatties are definitely in use even though they are thoroughly modern and civilized!   [End]

In Asia (and Russia) (probably many other places, too), ”squatty potties” are popular. They are a hole in the ground but with plumbing. Of course, there’s always the traditional outhouse, but squatty potties smell better. Some people always use the squatty potty and, when one is not available, will squat on the traditional toilet ”throne” by standing on the seat. Great articles SC! The breathing squat is different from the regular squat in that instead of inhaling on descent and exhaling on lift, in the breathing squat you exhale on descent and inhale on lift. Not to mention that the breathing is deep, controlled and diaphragmatic. Its almost becomes like yoga (where you inhale on the lift portion of a movement). Sometimes it’s the smallest things. Do you put your stool as close to the toilet as possible? Also, you’ve got to be primitive about this -- no trousers, no underwear around your ankles or you’ll be restricted from positioning your bare feet comfortably. No trouble at all. Let’s start with the toilet. My seat is 15 and 3/4 inches high. My step stool, which was only a couple of dollars at a housewares store, is 9 and 1/4 inches high. So they are separated by 6 and 1/2 inches. If one or the other of your pieces is too high or too low (to get the right spacing for you), it makes the squatting too awkward (too little separation) or not effective (too much separation). Garcia, The LifeStep that I have measures 7 1/2” high, is 15” across the front (of the toilet) and is 13 1/2” deep (sides fit to the left and right of the toilet). My wife and I are dramatically different heights and weight (6’0, 200 versus 5’4, 110) and it puts both of us in the squatting position. I think the height of the stool is what really helps. It really works though. When I use a bathroom that does not have this stool, I never feel like I completely emptied. Garcia, you are correct! Renew Life, the company that sells ParaGone and other bowel cleansing and digestive products, also sells a squatting stool. I bought one about three months ago to help with my constipation. I must say it works as advertised. I am sure any kind of stool would work, but this one tucks around the toilet so your legs can sit atop of it and thus put them in a squatting position. Much more does come out this way. I was just reading today that the ICV can be put out of whack by the incorrect posture whilst going to the toilet. The correct posture is the squatting posture which all of mankind used until the invention of the toilet. Eating Parsely as a cause of ICV failure sounds dubious. A combination of safer fiber - P&B shakes - digestive enzymes and salt water flushes in the morning should do the trick just fine. :) Be sure to massage the abdomen during the salt water flushes, and consider applying moist heat, like castor oil packs, to the area.
