Yes squat toilets are popular in Korea and also many homes in Japan. My friend in Okayama Japan has a squat toilet, and she informed me that there are many public squat toilets there. She prefers squat toilets and claims a woman is dryer after urinating in that position.
The body was naturally designed for that position, but the human body is very adaptable for survival.
I used to live in an apartment in connecticutt that had the original Thomas Crapper porcelain toilet in the bathroom. Evidently John was very proud of his invention, because there was a large cobalt blue cartouche design in the bottom of the toilet bowl surrounding the name Thomas Crapper. That is how the words "I am going to take a Crap" or "using the Crapper" originated. His bowls were highly glazed and more shiny than the new ones you see now and appear as new as the day they were bought.
