I'm suffering from a
kidney stone myself since last October and it definitely is the worst pain I've ever experienced. The first time I got that pain I felt like I was gona die or something, and had to be ambulanced to the hospital, where they gave a bunch of pain killers that didn't do much and then they gave morphine which helped a little, after that the pain suddenly went away then another attack happened a couple of weeks thereafter. I think I've had over 5-6 of these painful episodes now, and then the pain just disappears after a few hours, a couple of times it lasted longer. From the cat scans I had they said I had a stone in the ureter which was 6.7mm long the first time, a month later another cat scan and they said that the stone had moved a bit more towards the bladder and was around 6mm long. Then a couple of weeks ago I had another attack and had to go to the hospital where they did a kub xray on my persuasion and the stone was in the bladder area, the doctor said it was in the bladder or at the tip of the ureter. I still don't know if I have passed it yet as i only strained my urine a couple of days after that and then just stopped straining, for all I know it might of passed already, but I haven't noticed anything, I'm still waiting for the urologist office to book an appointment for me. I haven't had any pain since the last episode though. Now, the doctors keep telling me that it's only one stone that is coming down the ureter and the pain stops when the stone is lodged in a place and isn't moving and pain comes back again when the stone starts moving again. However, I was talking to a friend of mine who had
kidney stones and he's telling me that it's always more then one stone, and usually when the pain stops it means the stone has exited the ureter and into the bladder but the doctors keep telling me otherwise they keep saying it's only one stone and when it stops at a place in the ureter the pain stops, i don't know what to believe, if anyone has more info on this please let me know. thanks.
Don't worry hang in there, at least this is not something life threatening even though the pain sure makes it seems like it is, the only thing you have to be careful of is that after some time if the pain doesn't eventually go away that means your stone is blocking the urine and eventually your kidney drowns and can fail, but this i think happens when the pain hasn't gone away for quiet some time maybe a couple of days etc.,
