Re: Dr. Dino
My post was not a scathing commentary on you, John. You are a rare breed of unbeliever (conscientious). But the true measure of righteousness and self-respect is TOLERANCE and respect for other people, not retaliation and mockery of them (restraint, not responding in kind). Yes, I do know that there are many childish people who CALL themselves Christian and think that they have the right to give unbelievers a hard time (but they DO NOT). It is (your) every individuals responsibility (MY OPINION, not just their right) to take charge of their of their own life (identity, serenity, however you want to say it) and let them know that the 'buggers' should 'bug off' (even if they leave you no choice but to 'chew them out'), but it is not right to return your resentment to those who you IMAGINE are forcing (we are not holding a gun to your head on this forum) you to believe what we do. We simply believe very strongly as each one of us UNDERSTANDS what God wants from us and offers us. Some of us have been in The Lord only one year, some of us twenty years, but we are all still growing and have different understandings based on our backgrounds, upbringings and cultures.
Life is backwards. As a function of human nature, what is truly good is disrespected and resented. Considering the nature of each INDIVIDUAL person, that means when a person shows disrespect to another person (intolerance), it is because they don't have enough respect for themself (the law of reciprocity). A great many people (especially you) underestimate themselves in this way, everyone was made in the image OF GOD. The bible is a mirror, it shows us how imperfect we are and incompatible (in our own natural state, without salvation) we are with God. Don't disrespect us who are sincere, only the hypocrites (cowards).
We (society) tend to resent what we fail at (a type of egotistical and conscientious jealousy).
