Usually i do consider vitamin C for it's collagen production qualities and for the immune system activation functions, nothing more than that.
Isn't it what vitamin C is supposed to do??.
For detoxing and energy i would not go for the vit. C alone.
In your case vitamin C did what it was supposed to do, synthetic or not, the other effects you had from the other components are effects that do not derive directly from vit. c.
