Re: Re Re Re A whole lemon working better than ascorbic etc. C,
Hi - Yeal, Rottweilers are sweet dogs. They look scary but they can be cuddle bugs I know.
To tell you the truth I am concerned for myself and for you, too, and I will tell you why. I have been listening to a vid by a Dr. Jaffe. He used to work some with Linus Pauling. He seems totally expert. He, too, promotes ascorbic acid big time, but...
He also does the urine ph testing of himself on a regular basis and reports that his patients are less symptomatic when they are alkaline. He mentions taking baking soda to alkalize. But baking soda is full of salt and diminishes C.
There is a disconnect in all this information I am getting. Take Vitamin C they say. You can't take too much! But don't be acidic!
But Vitamin C, though mildly acidic compared to say meat or milk or sugar, is still hiiiiighly acidic the more the grams go up. I see those little papers being consistently yellow. I hear Dr.Jaffe saying to pay attention to them. I don't hear him, or anyone else, saying, "But if the papers are yellow due to Vitamin C, don't worry about it."
Back to concern for you. Maybe you feel fine now, but I keep hearing people who research saying that consistent acidity can start to break down the body. If you are taking all that C then I would personally be very surprised if your urine ph isn't very acidic.
I think I'm personally just going to take as much C as I can get away with while still staying alkaline. This will be more than I used to take.
I am annoyed with those docs who act so cavalier about the whole acidity issue with C. But I guess they only have so much time in their vids.

There is the vid where Jaffe talks about the importance of having alkaline ph in the urine. It starts at about 10 minutes into the vid, but you might find all the vid to be of interest. This guy has been doing lab tests and treating patients etc. for decades and seems to know exactly what he is talking about. He seems to be as least as much of a fan as, and as experienced with, AA as Dr.Levy.
Neither Levy nor Jaffe say (wish they did) but I suspect that when people are getting massive doses of Vitamin C that they are making a trade off for a short time in the cases of disastrous illnesses.
But...again, they don't say.
If you have got any research to show that yellow ph papers are okay when they are due to mega mega Vitamin C I would really appreciate seeing it.
Thanks much again.
