Re: Re Re Re A whole lemon working better than ascorbic etc. C,

Hi Lorica,

I suspect you ARE "taking enough" to assist with MANY antioxidant functions in your body. But if your health is not at the level you would like it to be, you are not [in my, I would like to think, CONSIDERED opinion] "taking" enough.

Please allow me the slight indiscretion of repeating just a few quotes [and comments] from an earlier post [all, of course, for your consideration, IF you so choose]:

Dosage is THE key! As an example, if a doctor prescribed a dose of Antibiotic to a patient, it would come with both an amount and frequency of dosage. Hypothetically, if that patient decided to cut that prescribed Antibiotic dosage in half, and/or ingest it at one-half the prescribed frequency, and then did not get the results expected, could we really/honestly say that they tried the Antibiotic out, and it did not work? And so it is with ascorbic acid. Dr. Cathcart has written that he did NOT see significant results in his patients UNTIL they approached Bowel Tolerance: "The clinical symptoms of...diseases and other conditions...are markedly ameliorated ONLY as bowel tolerance dose levels (the amount that almost, but not quite, causes diarrhea) are approached."

"There are very few human diseases or medical conditions that are not improved, to at least some degree, by the regular dosing of OPTIMAL amounts of vitamin C....the three MOST important considerations in effective vitamin C therapy are "dose, dose, and dose." If you don't take enough, you won't get the desired effects. Period!...you will rarely ever fail to observe a dramatic response...if you take a large enough dose for a long enough time..." -- Dr. Thomas Levy, M.D.

Wow, you mentioned you "...can't afford to take 5 grams a day..." I pay 2 to 3 CENTS each for 1 gram tablets [of ascorbic acid from Costco or Swanson's Health Products]. If I purchased ascorbic acid powder/crystals in bulk, I could get it for less than a penny a gram. Are we talking about the SAME substance? I admit, the roughly $75 a MONTH [more or less] I spend for [ingesting 75 to 100 grams a day of] ascorbic acid is not a small amount of money, at least not to ME! But for good health, and NO drug or doctor bills, it certainly strikes me as a SERIOUS BARGAIN [not to even mention the saving(s) of misery and inconvenience to me]! I can only encourage you, Lorica, if you want to improve your health, to ingest all of the antioxidant ELECTRONS, i.e. ascorbic acid, you can [right up to Bowel Tolerance] EVERY DAY. I think "electron therapy" is nothing short of a "modern" miracle! But, unfortunately, as Dr.'s Levy wrote, "If you don't take enough, you won't get the desired effects. Period!"

You have all my BEST wishes, Lorica, for, at the very least, an improvement to/in your current health challenges!

Sincerely,

David

P.S. I would NEVER argue against [enough] sleep being an EXTREMELY important health modality!
