Re: Circumcision - a male view
>>I don't see how anyone would not want to be circumcised, quite frankly. It seems obsolete not to be circumcised IMHO!lol
Well you laugh. And that's fine with me because you just have not come to a proper understanding yet. I would say that being circumcised would be the equivalent of removing the hood off your clitoris. Would you want that? I would suspect more women would shout out and call that a violation of their rights and sovereignty.
If you object saying the hood of the clitoris is not similar to the male's foreskin then let me point out that someone who underwent a sex change operation, from male to female, would look amazingly correct anatomically.
When a young adolsecent male is coming of age he experiences chaffing and bleeding because he is "unprotected" without foreskin. This had happened to me. I never new why until I studied it twenty years later. Once you find out, it is easy to understand why someone would be upset or even angry that others experience and feel things differently and possibly better.
If female circumcision were the norm in our society then men would ask the same question you did. "I don't see how any woman would not want to be circumsised. Since everyone does it...it should be ok. Since it is the norm every woman should be circumsized."
BTW, if you ever discover the Gospel of Thomas (one of the lost teachings of Christ) you would hear Christ himself object to circumcision. Don't read any further because this may come as quite a shock to you:
His disciples said to him, "Is circumcision useful or not?"
He said to them, "If it were useful, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." (1:53)
