Re: Circumcision - a male view

James.

Thanks for responding. I consider you a brave person for going through circumcision in your adult life. How old were you when you had it done? By the way, there were a few confusing things to me when I compare both of your posts:

>>My penis did not lose any length. This is a ridiculous suggestion. The foreskin covers the glans.

You say that the foreskin covers your glans. I assume this occurs while in a flaccid state. All I know is that doesn't happen with mine and from what I hear the foreskin doesn't cover the glans in most circumcised males who had it done in infancy.

>>Losing a few millimetres of loose skin does not equate to a massive reduction in penis length. (And before anyone jumps down my throat I realise the foreskin is more than a few millimetres long, I was reffering to extra length beyond the tip of the glans).

I hear what you are saying. And it may sound like a little snip. But if the foreskin were to be unraveled it would measure approximately 3 inches by 5 inches (8cm x 13cm). To get a better picture of the amount of skin taken off would be to consider placing 15 US quarters flat against the surface of the skin. Within the skin the size of one quarter there are 12 feet(3.66m) of nerves and over 50 nerve endings.

>>Perhaps I wasn't clear in my first post; I don't have any remaining foreskin, I was cut tightly and have no coverage over the glans whatsoever. This, I believe, is how most circumcisions are done.

Well this is the opposite of what you said in the first post. I still believe you are the exception rather than the rule - where you are happy with it and it wasn't a butcher job. Here's a published study that I found:

"Among the 46% of men circumcised in infancy with a definite opinion about their genital condition, the ratio of happy to unhappy men was 50:50. The ratio of men happy to be intact versus those who were unhappily intact was 31:1 (97% vs. 3%). The lowest satisfaction rate was observed in those circumcised in infancy. Adult circumcision appears to have improved the lives of only 33% of respondents, while 66% reported dubious benefit or dissatisfaction."
