Re: I Need Help With Angular Cheilitis
Hi there, I'm new to this site and very thankful to have found this thread!
My son, who is turning 12, has had this reoccurring condition, on and off, for the past 2 to 3 years. It hasn't gotten terribly bad and we have managed to get rid of it by keeping the area dry, mouthwash and reminding him to take a multi-vitamin ... but the current bout (tongue is whitened this time too) hasn't disappeared in 2 weeks. Our family doctor dismissed it as chapped lips.
Here are a couple common precursors/factors that I have noticed with my son:
1) occurs after dental work or loss of a tooth (any ORAL DISRUPTION/opening)
2) after/with strep throat - which he gets often (once again often after dental work or loss of teeth)
*He had recurring thrush (would begin with teething/new teeth cutting through)as an infant/toddler and has always had odourous breath, although his oral hygiene isn't neglected.
He is playing Wii while he waits to wash off the vaseline ... and is hopeful that this works (tough to wear his mouth guard for hockey when this is present). I will keep you posted.
Thanks again for sharing "The Cure" and everyone's input on experiences.
