Dockor, my heart really goes out to you. I read your entire post and cannot believe what you been going through. I've heard of people who've had for very long periods, but your post gave me more personal viewpoint.

Speaking from experience, my infection went away very quickly and thus so did the redness (about a week or two). As for scarring, your body's natural collagenese will try to eat up the scar and fade it out like it will for all scars in your skin due to cuts. If after awhile (months, a year) your scarring is still too visible, I would see a dermatolgist to see if he could help lighten up the area.
