I think it's working! I did the angular chelitis "treatment" described above twice last night. Washed with palmolive, thoroughly dried, applied vasoline for 2 hours, wiped off and repeated. Went to bed with a dab of vasoline covered with a band aid.

This morning the corner of my mouth was still dry and felt tight but the cuts were almost totally faded and the color was much improved.

I think you might be on to something here.

I washed with palmolive again this morning after taking a shower, dried and now I have a dab of neosporin covered by a bandaid to hopefully take care of the cuts on the corner of my mouth once and for all. Things are looking much better than they did a day or two ago. I will keep you posted.
