Re: 9. additional helpful herbs for the kidney patient (see edit at the bottom)

Other herbs helpful for the kidney patients are ones that clean the blood as their blood is dirty due to the kidneys not working optimally. these are called alterative herbs.

Some, though, help kidneys more than other.. I had went through Dr Christopher's book on the alterative herbs and personally feel that burdock root was the best for this and have a step on that in step six.

Other alterative herbs he mentioned in his book-the school of natural healing- were the following list in case anyone wants to do more research

Blue flag, flag lily or water flag
Chaperal, creosote bush, or greasewood
Echinacea, black sam(p)son or coneflower
Garlic
Oregon grape or mountain grape
Plantain
Poke weed, pokeweed or snoke
Purple loosestrife
Red clover, wild clover, or Trefoil
Sarsaparilla
Sassafras
Yellow dock, curled dock or sour dock

Alterative
Herbs which purify the blood. Most alteratives promote the cleaning action of the spleen, liver, kidneys, and bowels. Alterative herbs are generally used over a long period of time, to allow for gradual detoxification of the entire bloodstream which will, in turn, improve digestion, assimilation, and glandular secretions.

Apparently, some alterative herbs contain hormones or hormone-like substances that act like endrocrine secretions. Others seem to improve the function of the endrocrine glands, so that they better produce their own secretions. A list of Alterative herbs is available.

Alterative: An herb that will gradually restore the proper function of the body and increase health and vitality. Sometimes referred to as blood purifiers.
