these two names are commonly confused and both spellings are used for both plants.

You do not want the banana look alike but the common plantain you may well be familiar with that grows a lot in parks and lawns.

here are a few pictures (the greenplant not the banana)..you can look around if you know the plant and pick it yourself to make teas and tinctures..avoid freshly sprayed yards.

this is also an excellent herb for blood poisoning.

did you recognize it?

to make a tincture, do it like any herb you tincture (fresh or dried).

to make a tea just do an infusion (pour boiling water over it, cover and let stand till coil and strain, adding honey or real maple syrup if desired (do not use maple syrup unless it is 100% maple syrup which is harder to find and at health food stores and some groceries. Use raw honey if possible.

follow the directions I gave to tincture question on how to use a handful with fresh and a tsp with dried.
