more info on tinctures and forms of herbs to take and such
a tincture is making an herbal extract from herbs.
herbs contain many pytochemicals which cure and prevent diseases.
These are very difficult to absorb from taking a capsules which is how most people take herbs and it is the worst way to take an herb'
It is important the herb is organic or wildcrafted (grow in the wolds like the wood,s meadows, lawns, etc--but best not to harvest herbs too close to roads and highways as organic and wild crafted herbs contain 7-10 times as more of the pytochemicals that heal us and prevent diseases.
So a 2nd problem is that many manufacturers use conventional and poor herbs as they are cheaper and thus not nearly as effective
the 3rd problem is that they do not use enough herbs in their tinctures
so for me
the best on the market is buying from herbdoccom (dr Schultze's site)
the 2nd best in making your own tinctures (if making Dr schulze's see his manual and videos for formulas to make these) using organic or wild-crafted bulk herbs and using a final mix (when the herbs settle to the bottle of 50-75% solids (the herbs) and 25 % fluid that will rises to the top. Generally, this is called menstrum and is 80-100 proof vodka made from grain..cheap brands are ok but be sure they say made from grain in the bottle and the 80 proof is fine for most but some like resin herbs like pine require 100 proof.
the third best is buying on of the people on here who sell comparable to schulze for his formulas in the incurables or making using a brand like herbpharm for things like burdock blend and juniper etc.
I have somewhere written instructions on how to make a tincture but may not be able to get those on here until I move as I have no one to help me and a lot to do, but you can see exactly how to do it by watching the save your life videos..it used to be on google videos but sam biser the man interviewing schulze in the videos took the info online legally with cease and desist threats so now you must buy the videos on ebay (or amazon)..luckily there is a guy selling the dvd with manual very cheap currently (he is the only one selling a dvd as the originals were all on vcr tapes..i is the same one,...I have ordered and watched it myself to see if it is the same and it is..not fancy packaging but it is the best deal buy far (less than $30 which includes shipping for the 12 hours of dvd and the 700 page online manual). This will be one of the most important purchases you will make cause with it you can cure all diseases in my and many people's opinions. I suggest adding the specific things (i this case the 25 + steps) which are specific to your particular disease for best results and the school of natural healing book is a good place to learn that stuff and the website too (herballegacy)
One can find videos and directions by doing online searches..just be sure to use the portions I said adding more herbs if it settles to more than 25-50% fluids or adding more herbs if it settles to not enough liquid at the top..shake it frequently and let it steep at least 2 or longer weeks (you can use right from the glass jar if you need it sooner without straining till removed but leaving the main jar for at least two weeks before the final straining. Be sure to prevent light from getting to the jar by either paining it, keeping it in a dark cupboard or paper bag or using dark colored glass. Best to use glass although I have used plastic but I think that was a mistake in light of the dangers of plastic at least use the right number of plastic (search online and look on bottom of bottle..) Mayo jars are good to use or baby food for small tinctures. giant pickle jars for huge tinctures just wash thoroughly..also be sure t label it with the contents and add an expiration date 5 years from the date you strains it but tinctures have been ok 75-200 years later so it will probably be good after the expiration date. this is also a good ways to maintain the potency in dried herbs as these fade quick
so in conclusion, capsules are the worst way to take an herb. Always use organic and /or wildcrafted or home picked herbs (if you are sure you have the right herb)
Teas are 2nd best but a tincture extracts a lot more chemicals and even some after cannot extract and put into the tea so herbal extracts and tinctures are the best way to take an herb,
also the alcohol helps the herb immediately be absorbed and helps bypass digestion which is important as some people cannot easily absorb herbs. doing though colon cleansing will also help us absorb better the nutrients, etc, in herbs and foods.
but see the manual or search online for how to make a tincture..It is very easy,,I use a vitamix to chop very hard herbs like ginseng etc as these can break a blender,
