Re: Leaky gut/candida/anxiety/adrenals; LOST, need help...
Ask Christian, hello; thanks for the reply, I do apologize for taking this long to get back to you.
When you say "They aren't as seperate of conditions as you think." - don't get me wrong - if I indicated that I think they're not connected to one another, that wasn't my intention; especially after reading all the excellent replies on here, I understand more than ever that these physiological systems are all connected.
I've no doubt that I fostered a dysbiotic state through poor dietary choices. Even though I generally consumed less sugars than the average person (who, to my perplexity, often seem asymptomatic, though how do I know how each person feels?), I still ate a lot of dried fruit, honey, maple syrup, which in the end, is still concentrated, albeit natural, sugar.
The gluten and dairy (rye and cheddar sandwiches with Belgian Ale and dark Stout beers, and some single malt) definitely didn't help...nor the drug abuse! (Or the really bad food choices when I was stoned and had the munchies...)
...so I'm sure that I contributed to leaky gut and candida, somewhat through things which were stupid choices on my part, in other ways through actions I didn't know were bad for me (gluten, dairy).
And I see now that this is all connected to the adrenal glands, and vice versa.
One of my dad's friends is a big advocate of the Body Ecology Diet. She also makes and sells the fermented veggies (perhaps with some variation of her choice), made with the Body Ec. starters, as well as the young coconut products. I always enjoyed trying them, they were delicious, though I wonder sometimes if they aggravated my candida symptoms. It felt like it at times; doesn't really make sense, unless what I experienced was a die-off?
I admit, I have not actually read about or followed the diet itself. Can you tell me - does it contain a lot of grains, legumes, or nuts/seeds? I'm already on a very strict diet, so it's not a new thing for me, restricting foods...
I've tried super-food/green drinks from the health food store numerous times...Vega, Greens+ Daily Detox, PhytoBerry...I once tried fresh wheatgrass juice when I worked at a healthfood store, but it made me feel pretty ill. It's hard to say if I felt benefit from the green drinks I tried. Right now I'm cautiously taking small amounts of Naka Super Greens, 'cause the local store gave me some free samples, so I'll see how that goes.
I'm not averse to the idea of doing a
Colon Cleanse to start with. I'm going to re-read what was said to me in a previous post about cellulose powder vs. other non-soluble (non irritating to leaky gut) fibers, and start with one of those, I think - then I'd move onto
Oxypowder . Since I've never done a colon cleanse, I wouldn't be surprised if some work needs to be done in there!
I'm continuing to take the Omega Alpha Liver and Kidney Flushes, since they don't sound as hardcore to me as the home-made ones most folks around here do - I've reduced the amount I take for now, so as to not stir things up too much.
Thanks for all the great suggestions; keep in touch!
Cheers,
