Re: Leaky gut/candida/anxiety/adrenals; LOST, need help...

Hi Lou, thanks for the reply. Sorry for not responding right away, was feeling pretty rough the last couple of days.

You know, thinking back now, I used to love munching on seaweed as a kid, before I had so many issues; I never thought of it as medicine, I just liked the taste.

Regarding calcium, magnesium and iron; I had been taking a multimineral supplement, though I'm still not sure if it's the right one for me. I've been supplementing with Natural Calm magnesium. I was a bit concerned when I read on CZ about magnesium supplementation possibly encouraging candida growth, though it was pointed out that it may be less likely with more acidic forms of it, like malate, or citrate, which is what Natural Calm is.

I find the Calm product generally puts me to sleep, though can leave me feeling drowsy. It has been helpful when I've had excess adrenaline (or norepinephrine?) coursing through me, feeling like mini panic attacks (butterflies in the stomach, racing heart, fear, etc.); I believe it's an antagonist to adrenaline (?), so that would make sense.

Thanks for your suggestion about skin rashes and old waste in the colon. That along with possible adrenal issues (low cortisol) could explain things. I've never done a proper colon cleanse.

I looked at the Intestinal Formula #2 you recommend. It does look excellent, but if you see my response to Hveragerthi, I talked about how I read that Psyllium blends of cleansers have lots of soluble fiber in them, and that can aggravate a leaky gut (by increasing gut permeability); cellulose powder is what I've seen suggested otherwise, to remove colon toxins while decreasing (healing) gut permeability.

Given that, if I try a full colon cleanse, I might consider Oxypowder , since it's free of Psyllium.

Regarding alfalfa, I was once cautioned against using it. I read recently (if I'm correct in remembering) that the sprouts can interfere with protein digestion which is not what you want if you've got food sensitivities , etc. - but I'm not sure if that applies to unsprouted alfalfa.

I will however still look at Dr. Christopher's other formulas.

I like salads. In fact, I just ate a big one (tried for plain lettuce and spinach, to rule out reactions to other veggies) with some olive oil, Sea Salt and black pepper and marjoram on top, a touch of lemon juice. Not much itching after it. Not organic lettuce unfortunately, it's so expensive, but we do have pesticide remover spray and use it extensively.
