Soap is produced from oils

It's made from oils (various) and sodium hydroxide, which combine to produce sodium stearate, sodium oleate, whatever. The process is called saponification. Bile (in the gallbladder) is a consists mainly of bile acids and sodium, so the theory of the soap stone believers is that the "stones" are the product of a kind of saponification.
