Concerning the back soreness and discomfort...
Idea, that many people appreciated:
I discovered that rolling my back over a slightly deflated ball - in the bed or on the ground does very good job. I enriched my arsenal with a pair of tennis balls in a tied nylon sock, over which I am rolling my back -- one ball under each side of the spine. I use a single tennis ball for individual achy spots; it can be used to press against the wall as well. I also gently stretch and self massage a lot. My chiropractor helps, but it can run quite expensive, as massages do.
