  I've had Exfoliative Cheilitis for 3 years and have tried most methods mentioned on this forum. I'll spare you the list of all the crazy things I did. I've had other accounts on here, but this is my main one now.
  
  So let's get down to the details.
  (#1) I quit applying any lip products, famously known as the leave it alone method.
  (#2) I quit drinking all forms of alcohol.
  (#3) I started drinking Vitamin D whole milk with or without cereal.
  (#4) I avoided letting any form of "oil" touch my lips.
  (#5) (Optional) I started using medicinal marijuana daily as opposed to my previous every so often use...
  
  So that's it folks, that's how I healed myself. I'll explain each step and why it's important.
  
  For the first step, I chose the leave it alone because I've tried every lip product and non lip product (I'm sure you can imagine what crazy things those are) with no success. So nothing topical was applied to my lips. The first week was tough, my peeling continued, my lips bled, but I stuck through it. The second week and the weeks after were much better and healing continued with success. For the second step, alcohol just dries the body out and does no good for your health.
  
  Quitting alcohol in general from beer, wine, liquor etc. actually helped alleviate my eczema on my hands and face.
  
  For the third step, I don't have the time to sit out in the sun all day, so I chose to drink whole milk with Vitamin D plus I figured I was lacking in the essential nutrients that whole milk has to offer.
  
  For the fourth step, this may be the most important step on the list; I did not let any oil touch my lips. I'm talking about all oil, from cooking oil, coconut oil, mineral oil, etc. all oil was avoided.
  
  I had fordyce spots and I truly believe I got them because the oils entered the wounded area on the lip and deposited itself as fordyce spots on the border of the wound and normal area of the lip. That is my theory of fordyce spots; they completely disappeared and peeled off when no oil came in contact with my lips.
  
  Also I noticed that oil just made my lips peel faster and cause a red line on my vermilion border, so obviously I wanted to avoid unnecessary peeling and "clown lips".
  
  For the fifth and final step, medicinal marijuana has anti-inflammatory properties and helps with autoimmune diseases, which I believe what exfoliative cheilitis is.
  
  I used marijuana for its medicinal properties, well worth it in all ways that needs no explaining. It's a miracle plant; doctors can no longer deny its many benefits.
  
  I chose to leave water out of my list because everyone drinks water and should drink water. I drink lots of water. During my healing, if my lips would get to dry, I would just drink more water.
  
  As for toothpaste, I went through that whole saga; I just went back to my normal mentadent. I concluded that toothpaste had no effect on my lips.
  
  I did do something controversial during my healing process and that was I licked my lips.
  
  In the workplace, sometimes you don't have a bottle of water with you at all times, so licking my lips before a brief conversation with a coworker showed no negative effects. I realize my fourth step makes sense only during the healing process, but once your lips are fully healed there will no longer be an open wound and you should feel free to indulge on chicken wings, french fries, pizza etc. only after you've healed. The ironic thing about all this is that you can use lip products again once all the wounded areas of the lips have fully healed. I know this is important for women since they use lip stick and lip gloss. It took approximately 2 weeks to fully heal :) with no relapse.
  
  I'm a guy in my late 20's. If you have any questions, feel free to reply. So here's my list of my steps again to finish off. I believe that these 5 steps are the most important changes I've made in my life that contributed to my successful healing.
  
  (#1) No topical products (leave it alone method).
  (#2) No alcohol (beer/wine/liquor etc).
  (#3) Drink Vitamin D whole milk.
  (#4) No oil in any form touching the lips.

      Mostly beer, sometimes mixed drinks. I smoke the marijuana, but have also made cannabutter. I medicated daily. The strain I used was high grade kush. So very potent indica.

    It's interesting what you said about the fordyce spots. The triangular area where I had fordyce spots was always raw (like a wound) so oil could easily get in. But, I thought the fordyce spots were due more to inflammation or allergy. Or are you sure it wasn't the marijuana that healed the fordyce spots? How often do you use marijuana?

      I believe it was a combination of the steps I used. The marijuana took away the inflammation or at least I couldn’t feel the irritation of leaving them alone.

    Good luck managing the condition. As a 15-year-sufferer of this condition, I don't find these assertions credible. Indeed, I've essentially done everything you mentioned other than to drink whole milk. I'm not trying to deprive people of hope. I still think that I am going to overcome this lifer-altering condition. However, as seasoned sufferers of EC, I think we have a responsibility to weed out the plausible claims from the implausible. I do agree, however, that we're not going to ever heal our lips of we keep forcing the scaled skin off.

  This is my first time posting on curezone, but have finally found something that works for me - and I believe could work for all of YOU too.
  
  Okay; so the issue I've had with most lip balms is that, although they are non-polar - such as Vaseline, they do not provide enough protection/ moisturization for the lips; essentially what occurs is a condition known as "Exfoliative Cheilitis" - http://www.dermnetnz.org/site-age-specific/exfoliative-cheilitis.html.
  I have tried hundreds of products and have gone to Harley Street medical professionals, but until recently none of them provided stable consistent relief as I have now found.
  [There are other resources around regarding this too, please Google. It is not so incurable or factitious as suggested.]
  
  I started having this condition, when I was 11 (I am now 21); but It's only recently that I've actually found a possible solution to this issue.
  
  The main issue with the lips - is that the natural lipid bi-layer gets removed or destroyed, and then the constant peeling cycle occurs - due to the fact that the lips are unable to retain moisture, or repel water. The solution has come from the use of lecithin on the lips - it contains both phospatidylcholine and ethanolamine (among others), which creates a natural, excitable artificial bilayer for the lips to be protected with.   I think choline may have a part to play, as many of the symptoms of this condition mimic having a lack of this element in the diet - please check many multivitamins, which simply do not provide it (as phospatidylcholine, or even its lesser suitable form of choline bitartrate).
  
  Please note, I am an undergraduate studying Computer Science at a London university, but have found many different articles which support my theory. Also, my own experimentation has provided a solution whereby my lips have STOPPED PEELING. [This is my first week, and it takes 35 days to fully cycle through the skin removal process].
  
  Simply to stop touching your lips is not enough - eliminate the cause of the cracking, and you eliminate the reason to actually peel the lips in the first place. This did take some form of medical rocket Science to work out. Please also look at choline deficiencies and the possibility of "fatty liver".

  Please experiment with applying lecithin to your lips, at morning, after a meal and at night. Pierce a new capsule each time, or use the same one. I wish this gives you hope, as it has done for me! I am currently talking to a product specialist, to see if we can get this made into a lip balm!

      I am supplementing lecithin (1 capsule, 1000mg) and phosphatidylcholine (2 - 4 capsules, 150mg) daily now.
      
      Also those who experience fordyce spots may be required to paint/ apply lecithin in order to create the excitable bilayer lipid membrane (as their sebaceous pores are blocked from excreting the required lipids - another possible effect of a lack of dietary choline).

        All I know with my lips is it seem like it was unhealed wound that needed something special to heal them. Once my lips healed (from another treatment), they felt like they were getting dry if I did not apply silicone scar strips at night.           Much like people who take supplements in order to decrease the peroxide [this compound bleaches your hair] that resides around the hair follicles on the scalp - it could be years until the hair has grown to a significant length that the change is fully visible.
          
          Therefore, an overnight and immediate solution to aid the problem - is to paint lecithin onto the lips AND supplement choline. The first for the short term, and the second for the ultimate long term solution. Plus, many other conditions may exist in addition to choline deficiency; but by at least protecting the lips from the external environment, you can address one part of it.
          
          I cannot tell at this time, as I have not been performing the treatment for very long. Although the progress I have so far seen is extremely promising. I would suggest that at night you attempt to apply one coating or layer of lecithin, and clear the coagulated border in the morning, and continue your day as normal - you may need to top up with vaseline, or with something else during the day, but it should definitely help!

      I believe that the sebaceous pores on the lips, create [or help to create] the hydrophobic membrane, that makes them resistant to the penetration of water.
      
      I would suggest, that you also attempt to use lecithin - and see what results you encounter. I have had very good results so far, and will attempt to keep using it for the whole month.
      
      I use to have a very sore spot - triangular in essence, just below the philtrum, on the top lip.
      
      Hope this helps your understanding.
      
      If you do not have fordyce spots - I suggest phosphatidylcholine supplementation. But painting lecithin as an excitable membrane could help in the mean time none the less.

I would definitely suggest trying to paint lecithin onto your lips - and see if you make any progress. It is working for me currently.
          
          Remember that this bilayer is needs to be non-polar, and therefore stops the transference and transportation of essentials fats, vitamins and minerals away from the lips.

  Abstract
  
  Elderly individuals are at increased risk of oral thrush (oral candidiasis) due to decreased saliva secretion. Due to their antimicrobial properties, edible oils can be effective natural agents for oral care. The objective of the present study was to compare the effects of sesame oil, which is widely used for cooking in Asian countries, and two other edible oils on the growth of both mycelial and yeast forms of five clinical isolates of Candida albicans, a causative microorganism of oral thrush. We assessed the effect of each oil in concentrations of 0.078%, 0.156%, and 0.313% on growth of the mycelial forms of the clinical isolates over 24 hr using the crystal violet method. We also evaluated the effect of each oil on growth of the yeast forms by counting the number of viable yeast cells after culturing in the oils for 24 hr. Sesame oil inhibited the growth of both mycelial and yeast forms. Safflower and olive oil also inhibited the growth of both forms of C. albicans but to a lesser extent than sesame oil. The ability to inhibit the growth of the mycelial form correlated with sesame oil concentration. Roasting influenced growth inhibition ability and high-roasted sesame oil most effectively inhibited the yeast form. The growth inhibitory effect differed among the five isolates. We hypothesize that the sesamin and fatty acid components of sesame oil are involved in its antifungal activity.

  I had three white spots on my lips for the past four years. They looked like herpes and I had to wear lipstick to cover them every time to hide them. I've looked all over the internet for cures and tried them all: vicks, conditioners, peels, oils etc.
  
  Fed up I was trying to pop them like a post I read. I took a pin removed the top layer of skin and squeezed and squeezed hoping some stuff would come out. Nothing did except blood.
  
  Just on a lark I took c-herb that I bought to remove my moles, flesh colored raised spots and hemangiomas. I used a toothpick and put on a small amount on the exposed lip skin and covered it with a small bandaid.
  
  Immediately my skin burned, stung a little. I kept the bandaid on for about four hours then peeled it off and went to sleep. I did not wash off the c-herb but left it on. I would not advise keeping it covered overnight.
  
  The next day a brown spot formed which scabbed over. The scab grew larger over the week then fell off on its own. I did not apply any lotions or lip stuff and I treated the area very delicately. Three weeks later my fordyce spot is still gone. And I just successfully treated the one on my top lip just leaving one more to go. The one on my top lip never really turned brown but when the scab came off it too remained gone.
  
  I have posted this on earthclinic but because there is a product mentioned they did not put up the post. I also put it on fordycespots forum but once again no one put up the post. I'm posting it here to hopefully help some people. Mine are gone. I am cured. I wish I took pictures to prove it.
  
  You must poke the area and squeezing to draw blood I think helped. I don't look like I have herpes on my lip anymore.

  Hello every1,
  
  
  first of all, apologies for any language mistakes - English isn't my first language ;)
  
  
  I've been a sufferrer of EC for about 6 years so far (hopefully ain't gonna be a 7th year ;)), to be honest, I haven't been on this forum for about two years now since i have tried all sorts of treatments suggested here and haven't really found my cure (that been said - I do have so much appreciation for all of you awsome people sharing your experiences and giving me and many people hope for a better future - LOVE you guys).
  
  I feel like recently i came to understand what was causing this problem for me and what i think is helping me and i would like to share it as i think it could be helpful for many of us (fingers crossed).
  
  As some of you may realize about themselves - my condition kicked in after a few months of severe stress. this stress was causing me to become socially withdrawled, which led to me being very depressed and insecure about myself.
  
  while i was in this emotional state, many people have noticed and commented that my posture was droopy and my face took on this sad depressed look (eye bags,unviberant fallen face etc.).
  
  after a few years of batteling EC and starting to accept that this condition may never go away i gathered myself and decided i will not let this stop me from having some sort of a social life and i started to attend social events an making new friends. This has had an amazing impact on my self esteem and i started feeling valued. I understood that as a person there is much more in me than the look or feel of my lips (as ennoying as it may be).
  
  Gradually i became more active, i started enjoying taking walks down town with friends, going to vacations, i became more ambitious and started enjoying all those small things people enjoy.
  
  At some point, since i was more emotionally relaxed (and my lips were not as bad as when i was passing my days being at home and depressed), i was starting to feel more aware of how my body reacts to emotional mindsets.
  
  I found out, that when i am depressed, my posture automatically becomes bad - the sholders get rounded, i was not standing up correctly, my energy levels were low, digestion was not as smooth etc.
  
  Then i decided to concentrate on what are the effects of my posture on my body.
  
  What i reallized is as follows.
  
  Our body, just like any other thing on this earth, needs energy in order to work - that's why we eat. once we consume this energy (food) our body is charged up with energy (calories). If we do not use this energy - it stays in our body and has to release itself somehow (just like boiling water, if you seal it - it explodes).
  
  When you practice correct posture, the energy is being directed evenly to every part of the body, because every muscle you use consumes some of this energy.
  
  On the other hand - if you are not sitting, standing and walking correctly (using the right muscles), in other words - if you do not hold your body correctly, and are not phisically active - this energy will find it's way out of your body through those muscels that are working, for example - your face muscles. just like if you boil water in a preassure cooker - the steam will find it's way out through the small hole in the top, but the preassure will be much higher.
  
  I found that whenever i prectice good postue my lips start feeling better within just a few days, peeling cicles become less often and less severe and my face overall look is much healthier and viberant (also the rest of my body feels more charged with energy and i feel less tired).
  
  It is important to look online and educate ourselves about what is the correct posture because sometimes it could be very far from what we are used to (could even feel unnatural because some muscles have weakend over the years - that's why it requires practice - but believe me, it is worth it.
  
  immedietly when you stand up in a currect posture you can actually feel how different muscles get more active and energized and how there is less tension in your face.
  
  I am sure that many of us will find that their posture is far from the correct one.
  
  unlike other treatments, i have noticed that the effects of correct posture kicks in in just a few days. i am not suggesting that after one week your lips will be as good as new (niether are mine) However, within a week you will feel less tension in your lips and less aware of them along the day (which will prevent you from feeling the need to pick at them all the time). also, having a good posture will give you a more impressive and confident look (which in turn will contribute to how you feel and value yourself.
  
  the reason why all those creams and dish soaps are not helping is simply because nothing is wrong with your skin chemistry - this is a bodily mechanical problem which will not be cured by random chemicals.
  
  (i am aware this might not be the case for every EC patient, some have underline causes such as allergies etc. but i think the majority of EC sufferrers do relate the onset of this condition to be triggered by stress and emotional struggles).
  
  i also strongly recommend practicing relaxing breathing, soothing chillout music and even relaxing guided meditation (you can find some on youtube).
  
  To wrap things up, my experience of this condition led me to believe that this condition has to do with body and mind wellbeing. if your mind can have a negative effect on your body - let's try and reverse that with our body having a positive effect on our minds.

      our body is an incredible "machine" and the wonderful thing about this "machine" is that every organ has an impact on a different organ that guess what - has an impact on a nother organ and so on.
      
      for example, if your digestive system is not working smoothly, it effects the way your body clears itself of toxins, and also the way your body picks up nutrions for keeping itself nurished. when your body is not clearing toxins properly - it creates strain on other organs such as kidnys or liver, once they are strained - they go on straining different organs and so on.
      
      when you do not practice good posture all sorts of organs are not working in the way they are designed to work. digestion, by the way, is one of the first things you will instantly feel an improvement with when you start practicing your posture.
      
      I wrote hopeforcure2016 an answer explaining more about how posture affects EC - i think you might benifit from reading it.

      i wonder how you came to the conclusion that this has to do with infection. infections are usually acute and has an onset and than they goes away, and if they do return - they do not usually return to the exact same spot, and if they do - the tissue is gonna get mouch worsely damaged - which is not the case in EC (not talking about Actinic Cheilitis).
      
      with EC the tissue becomes damaged at first, but in the chronic phase it sort of cycles in the same manner for an extended period of time - which is likely to suggest that your body system isn't working correctly in the regard of reparing this specific area of the body.
      
      Moreover, infections tend to spread (especially if they stick around for as long as EC does) which again, is not the case here and niether it is contageous.
      
      Also if this is a "special" infection that is not contageous, and isn't getting better or worse - it wouldn't explain why it appears in the exact same location and in the same shape for most patients.
      
      I don't think that this has to do with damaged DNA niether (like a sort of cancer) because DNA problems do not usually surface in so many people in the exact same manner, for example, a woman with Breast Cancer might feel a lump in her breast, but it isn't necessarily going to appear in the exact localion as a nother patient, and unfortunately it is going to get much worse without treatment, which is again - not the case in EC.
      
      Basically, your blood's job is to move around your body and provide each tissue with it's supplies which are necessary for the tissue to repare itself (btw, every tissue is constantly reparing itself, also if it is not ill). in the same manner that when your body gets too much fat in it's diet you will develop more fat tissue - when your lips get too much blood pressure they develop an amount of collagens which are too high, and this is why i believe your lips are preducing too much skin tissue which eventually falls of.
      As to the inflammation - inflammation means an increased blood activity. that is why when you get an infection (a actuall one ;)) there is inflammation, because your body sends more blood to that infected area in order to fight the intruding substances that your body identifys as a danger. However, the uncomfort associated with inflammation is simply because there is more blood activity that pressures the nerves. the reason, i believe, why we get the stinging inflammed sensation in the lips - is because the amount of blood directed to the lips is pressing some nerves and causing this unplesant sensation. some patients also notice an enlargement of the lips which can also be explaind by the fact that more blood is accumelated in this area.
      
      i can accept that this condition is not exclousively caused by stress. in my case, stress caused my bad posture (allong with some other changes in my life that included sitting much more in work and being less active phisically).
      but bad posture could be developed by sitting a lot (and not in the correct way), standing up or walking wrong (using the wrong muscles - or only some of the correct ones) or simply unawareness etc.
      
      the main problem is that people find it hard to believe that their everyday regularities could be causing their problem - for two reasons;
      A. it means they have to cange some of their habbits rather than applying some magic lotion (that aparantly doesn't exist so far).
      B. the fear of finding yourself frustrated after trying something and it doesn't work.
      people are willing to be frustrated about applying a cream twice a day, but practicing good posture isn't secessarily as easy and demands some degree of attention and devotion along the day.
      
      the good news is that there is no way in which you can harm yourself by practicing good posture (if done correctly and guided by very helpfull information you can easily find online).
      
      in the same way that when you sit in an airplane for a few hours you will start feeling that your legs are swollen because the pressure is high and gravity pulls your blood twards your feet - when you hold yourself in a wrong posture blood is flowing with more pressure twards your face causing high tension in your facial muscles and tissue.
      
      good posture allows your head muscles (in the back and sides of your head) to hold your facial skin more tight to your skull which immediately gives you a more viberant look. you will also instantly feel less tension in your face. if you have eyebags - they will fastly go away. you will notice your skin is not as oilly because your facial bloodflow will be much more at ease and more effective cleaning out toxins - non of the above could be bad for EC.
      
      It will also allow you to breath more easily through your nose without having to force yourself - another bonus for eliminating EC.
      
      You will also immediately find out that when doing so (practicing good posture) your toungh is placed automatically more backwards in your mouth and it doesn't feel compelled to lick the lips as often.
      
      your jaw will also be clenched in a proper way that will use some of the energy that flows to your face in order to strengthen your jaw muscles and other muscles around the eyes rather than having tension build up in your face.
      
      i strongly recommend for any one and especially those who suffer EC to do themselves the great favor of practicing their posture.

        I still had EC lips when I tried daily posture exercises by a posture expert. I admit that I'm not very active or don't exercise to use up energy. However, I know of some former lip biters on here who are very active. But I have celiac disease which is known to cause peeling lips in some cases having nothing to do with posture...unless the disease itself makes your muscles weak. I didn't notice a diffrence when I tried posture exercises, though.
        
        So, I'm going back to pressure from the clenched jaw?

          I do not believe clenched jaws would worsen your EC because i dont think that lips touching each other have anything to do with this problem. Also, there is no way on earth you can prevent your lips from touching food, toungh, or each other unless you are in a coma, breathing through your nose and being fed by IV - and even then, your lips will be touching each other or the air.
          
          If you have a Gluten intollorance my advice would be to keep staying away from it.
          
          However, a good posture isn't allways easy to acheive, and sometimes people think they have good posture but sometimes it could ce tricky because it has to do eith how you hold some internal organs and muscles. You could be looking in the mirror and think that your posture looks fine when infact you are not directing your body energy correctly. That is why it is important to be reading a lot on line on your anatomy and try to understand which muscles are designed to do what. this will make things much easier when you decide to practice your posture as you will be much more aware of your own body.
          
          basically not being active enough phisically is as bad as poor posture (even if you do practice good posture) because it means your body is getting more fuel (food - calories) than it consumes - instantly building tension in your body.
          
          when you are using good posture and your body isn't leaning constantly forward you will find that clenching your jaws comes more natural and you don't have to pull your jaw backwards in order to properly bring your jaws together. overall, your face will start feeling more "in place" and your nostrall airways will feel more clear because
          A; certain muscles in your head and face will automatically lift the sides of your nose alowwing air flow.
          B; by sitting UP there is less pressure on your lungs allowing them to reflexively pump air inwards rather than needing to force in air with every breath (which leads to mouth breathing because it is easier to force in air through your mouth than through your nose
          as a result, there will be much less activity in your mouth area.
          
          In the same way that your lungs are less pressured when posisioning yourself correctly, your digestive track will also be calmer and more efficient, i am sure that can't be bad for your celiac condition as your digestive track will get rid of unwanted allergens much quicker.
          
          count in all the other benefits of good posture i mentioned in the other posts of this thread, plus, many more you can easily find online - i think it is safe to say that good posture is a good investment for your overall helth.

    Thank you for your ideas and the wonderful and polite way you are writing here. God knows we need people like you here because pretty much every member here is struggling through mental issues because of EC. That being said, you have made good points about posture. I have by no means a good posture, however, I am fairly active, much more than many of the student athletes at my college. However, that has made little impact on my EC. But of course, that doesn't mean that proper posture which does open up the channel of energy throughout the body won't help out others. I mean why not try it right? You can ONLY look better and more confident with good posture and that will at the very least, elevate your mood.

      I think that for me it has to do with a lot of stress as well - stress usually builds up gradually making the body more tense. people (well, me, and i believe that i am not unique in this aspect) do not realize how intense their body is in regard to what it should be. the relaxation mode for people who are dealing with chronic stress isn't as half relaxed as people who are not dealing with it.
      
      In the state of stress the body is producing stress hormones such as Andrenaline and Cortisol - these hormones are designed to enter the bloodstream in relatively high doses in order to alert the body when a person feels some sort of potential danger).
      
      In my case, i know that EC itself is a cause of stress because it effects the very basic activities that would normally provide a person with the confidence to get out there and do things.
      
      However, i believe that EC was triggered by chronic stress and anxiety. the reason why it is not going away is simply because it is a stressing condition to have regardless of the stress factor that caused it.
      
      This is, i believe, why there are reports of people getting better by getting Prozac, Affexor and other anti-anxiety/depressants.
      
      That being said, i am not a doctor, and i would not recommend psichiatric medications without a professional evaluation. However, there are a lot of stress relief techniques that can most certinly help a person get to relaxation mode (running, exercise, yoga, meditation, music etc.)
      
      Running,in addition to it's positive effects on every part of your body, has shown to have a similar effect on the body as anti-anxiety/depressant medications.
      It is quite difficult (to say the least) to get in a routine of phisycal activity for a person who is not relaxed and feels good, but it is an engine worth turning on because it is a major key in emotional well-being and once you get in to it - you won't want to go by a day without it.
      
      
      In short, i believe that EC is the body's response to emotional distress and i think this is the battle we should really be fighting.

  i have fordyce spots for 5 years now, i started to have them after taking an antidepressant called DEROXAT, it made my lips very dry, i used a lip balm and i saw those spots appearing on my lips, don't know if it's from the pills or the lip balm...
  
  AND i have a BIG question for this forum, is there anyone who got rid (for real) of those fordyce spots ??
  
  i mean, don't say any crappy cream or else, nothing works, if there is a solution, it's from inside our body maybe changing something about our diet, taking foods supplements or i don't know... but really nothing else can work, even CO2 laser doesn't work, and smoothbeam laser too (i tried smoothbeam already at the corner of my lip, i've got one scar but the fordyce came back)
  
  to be honest i'm started to loose hope but, is there anyone who cured this for real ?

      it is not something normal, it was not on my lip before, i have got normal lip for 25 years, so when doctors tell me it's normal because they don't know what to do to help me, it makes me angry.
      
      not many people have this that's why no one is searching for a solution, they would not get many money with us, we are a minority, they prefere to fix the face of old rich women with wrinkles...

          but i think too that fordyce spots can't be cured (actually i deeply think they can, but no one found how at the moment and everything that we can read about people that cured them is fake.
          
          i have never read anyone that said something like :" ok i cured my spots, this is the picture before/after, i did that and that and they are gone."
          
          i have never read that in 5 years, and i read lots of forum in french or english. i talked with a woman who have those for more than 30 years now... she tried everything and she still have fordyce...
          
          like i said i'm sure there is a solution, but no one know it and no scientists are interested by the problem because we are a minority...

  Something new that worked for me. I hope it can work for you.
  I found out that what I had was fordyce spots around 6 months ago and they have been around for at least 4 years now but I never really thought about it. I have it both on my private parts and my lips.
  At first I thought they were normal as i've seen them on other other but it wasn't until recently they were somewhat not that visible.
  I am in the military and it is quite stressful. Maybe it was stress that made my spots go out of control. Once I realized what they were I started noticing people and how they react when they talk to me. Many people would start touching their lips after looking at me as if it was a subconscious que to what they were thinking. That hurt my feelings so very badly. I am an average looking male with a decent body but these spots made people view me differently and crippled my confidence. The more I would read about fordyce spots the more I would notice them. Sad
  
  Around a month ago I started buying everything I could to try to get rid of them. This list included TCA 45%, retinol, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, jojoba oil, acetone, and vary lip moisturisers (blistex, carmex, burts bees), vitamin E.
  
  The first thing I tried was all of the moisturisers but it did not seem to help at all. Then two weeks ago I tried the acetone + ACV combo and left it on too long because I wanted to get rid of them badly. It made my lips extremely sore and huge. The spots did not go away but instead it made my lips even more noticeable. It took about a week to heal and in that time because of all I was doing to them and agitating my lips I got a cold sore because I was not taking enough L-Lysine..
  That was a very sad two weeks of my life.. In the military with my job you are constantly talking to people and it felt like everyone noticed my cold sore and fordyce spot..
  
  I would go home everyday on the verge of crying but there was nothing I could do.
  
  I read more and more forums and I saw that many people were suffering from a similar fate. I never thought that something like just spots would make me feel this small. That's why when I found a cure that worked for me I just knew I had to share it with you guys. If this helps only ONE person it would be worth it.

  For some reason I have no idea how I even knew or thought that it would work but something inside me thought that it would.
  
  So all that I did was I started small.. There was one spot that stood out more than the others as the others were closer to the inside of my lips.
  
  I had two things that I would try together one was 100% pure jojoba oil and the other was Digestive probiotics from Nature made ( I am pretty sure other brands could work too) . The probiotics came in pills that was filled with white powder and what they were was (Lactobacillus plantarum 200v 35 mg) .
  
  I took a needle and poked the spot very gently because I just wanted it to reach the fordyce spot area. The thinking was that bacteria that was good for the stomach and breaking down food could do something for the spot. I was desperate and was willing to try anything.
  
  I took an empty carmex lip balm container, cleaned it out and filled it up with jojoba oil and poured the powder from the pills into it and mixed it up with a q tip. After it was mixed up I just applied it to my lips and went running for almost an hour. I went home and reapplied it again after taking a shower and brushing my teeth. It felt like it was working a bit. Whenever I mess with my lips I always make sure that I take L-Lysine so I dont trigger another cold sore.
  
  I woke up the next day and the spot was gone. It was that one spot taht I poked (I did not poke it enough to bleed at at. You could hardly see that I even poked it.) I was soo happy to see that it literally vanished overnight.. a spot that has been there for ages. I am 100% sure that it would work for other spots too.
  
  I hope that this can help someone. Please give it a try and remember not to poke your lips too deeply. Just barely enough to scratch the upper layer of the skin so the bacteria can reach inside the spot.

  I recently went on a trip to Long Island, and went swimming in the Atlantic... it wasn't long before I noticed that my lips were tingling in a way that I wasn't all that familiar with, and I was getting stinging sensation in the corners of my lips.
  
  I could only help but to feel good about that, because when I put something on my lips and it stings, at least I know there is some kind of reaction going on.
  
  Anyway, when I got back to the house we were staying at, I checked out my lips, and noticed that the fordyce spots on them had been practically wiped out, and some were clearly exfoliating(kinda like the head of a small pimple after it's popped). The next day they were basically non-existent.
  
  The skin around the triangle of the upper lip was a bit irritated(reddish), but not long after started becoming more of a soft pink.
  
  I finally thought I had some kind of break-through, but I didn't want to post it here in case nothing really changed.
  Well, it's been about 4 weeks, and the fordyce spots seem to all be back, pretty much, and my lips are again back to their peeling cycle(in which they barely grow any skin, and wipe away effortlessly).
  
  If I remember correctly, Daniel Miller moved to Florida or some place and mentioned going to the beach a lot, being in the sun, etc.. and is no longer plagued by EC; and with my recent experience, I don't think it's a coincidence.
  
  I ordered this H2ocean stuff that I got today, and it's only ingredients are Sea Salt and purified water, which isn't exactly what I would call "ocean water". I'm having a reaction, but it's not as intense.
  
  I'm thinking I may order some mix for someone who wants to create a salt water fish tank or something, and try that.
  
  Has anyone experienced something like this?
  Do you have any thoughts?

It may not have as much salt in it as ocean water or it could be the other minerals in the ocean water which helps it further.

    Hi new here, but I been aware of this forum since 2006 I believe, which was the time my lips started peeling. Anyway, long story short: I learned to live with it to the point that it doesn't bother me much anymore and don't even think about it . Fordyce spots developed on my top bottom lip early on where the lip peels. It was not noticeable since it was hidden. Fast forward almost a decade later, and recently started getting the spots on the corners and top open area of my top lip,. It spread quite fast. This is pretty much the sole reason I came back here after all these years and finally make an account. I honestly think fordyce spots look 5 times worse than EC (granted my EC isn't nearly as bad as it was in the past). I used to live by the beach and still go quite often today, and I have to agree with tom. Perhaps it will work for you, but it hasn't helped me at all either. I know how much it sucks, and before the spots started spreading, I was perfectly content with living with EC for the rest of my life. I had plenty of girls like me. There must be a reason why after all these years it started spreading all of a sudden. II don't care what dermatologists say, this is not normal. Anyway, I'm currently using an over the counter cream and been on it for a few days. i will let you know how that goes.

      Well, I know it has been quite some time since my last post, but I did say I was going to post an update about my results ( I don't want to be that guy who just dissapears). So the creame I been using is called abreva, a cold sore cream. Yeah, I know, but supposedly someone from Australia claimed he was cured with it - claimed he had the classic fordyce spots all over his lips, which dissapeared in a very short period of time. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but it's better than twiddling my thumbs doing nothing. And you just never really know what may work. I figured it would be better than putting acid on your lips (apple cider vineger) and risk scarring. Maybe it's one of those cures that works for some and doesn't do shit for most. If I find something that actually works - whether it be in three months or three years - I'll be sure to let you all know. I don't want anyone to suffer this longer than they have to.   Hi everyone first i want to say sorry for my bad english (i'm french)
  
  I'm 28 years and 3 years ago i was really in a bad moments in my life and my doctor gave me anti-depressive pills called DEROXAT, i took this shit for 2 days and i stopped it because i got too much side effect, one of my side effect was that my lips were very dry... And even when i stopped it my lips didn't come back has before, it was still dry ! I applied lip balm and a day later i've noticed a white dot at the cupid part of my upper lips, i was wondering what is it but i didn't care much, but then i saw another one and another one and i started to get worried... i checked on internet and i saw it's called fordyce spots...
  
  - i don't know if i got my fordyce from the lip balm or from DEROXAT, to me it's from the pills because i also got this shit inside my mouth (in the cheek) but no one can see that so i don't care of it.
  
  - I saw that jojoba oil helps so i applied this every day morning and evening before to sleep, the fordyce didn't move but it didn't get worse too, it was also a nice moisturiser because my lips was still dry (especially after brushing my teeth, don't know why).
  
  - I got a new girlfriend 2 months ago, i love her so much already and a 1 week ago she wanted to leave me for some reasons, i was so sad, i wanted to puke etc... and finally a day after she said that she will stay with me, i was happy but... i saw new spots on my lips... i'm wondering if it's because the emotions, stress or something made them appear...
  
  - my new girlfriend use also lip balm often and when i kiss her i feel i have it on my lips too, maybe my spots get worse because of this.
  
  - another thing is, i have also poor liver fonction because i have a DNA disease that make my cholesterol VERY low, i stock fat around my liver because of this shit, i take care but well, there is nothing to heal from this, just take care and don't eat fat stuff too much. Recently i drinked alcohol a bit more than usual maybe i got new spots because my liver got worse, i cannot know...
  
  - i'm looking for a solution, first to don't make my lips worse, my lips are still "ok" but i'm very shy about it, i don't even know if my girlfriend noticed them already or not.
  
  Now my BIG problem to try to cure them is i feel that EVERYWHERE on internet there are fake stuff that people say to make people lips worse, maybe i'm paranoid but i'm sure i'm not.

  My BIGGEST question is : Is there someone that CURED his fordyce with home remede for REAL or not ? i don't want to talk about CO2 laser or else.
  
  I read that Garlic helps, i bought some garlic pills with aillicin inside, but i didn't get it yet so i cannot say.
  
  There is another "solution" it's the tattoo, but some people say the color doesn't stay on the fordyce, so it doesn't work but i also read it worked for someone, so i'm confused !
  
  Some people pop the fordyce themself and it works fine for them and other say popping them makes it worse !!
  
  SO what should i do ?? i would like to talk with honest people that have experience about fordyce spots.
  
  It's the biggest shit ever and i would like to slap every dermathologist that say "sorry, no one can see it, it's normal blablabla" f*ck them they are stupid ! I don't care to have this on my d*ck but having this sh*t on my lips sorry but NO :'(

  Hey all,
  
  So after reading Crustylips' post the other day, I found some old (but still good) Nystatin ointment that I was given by the first dermatologist I saw. I decided to use it the past 2 nights just for the hell of it.
  
  When I had full blown EC, I never had Fordyce spots but since my condition has cleared a bit, I have noticed some Fordyce spots on my lips. And after using Nystatin ointment on my lips the past few nights, some of the spots have turned red and have started burning. But the Fordyce spots as a whole seem to have gotten smaller.
  
  I looked it up briefly online and there seems to be some correlation between the two, some saying that Nystatin + steroid has helped get rid of their spots.
  
  Just wondering if anyone know anything about how Nystatin affects Fordyce spots.

      I actually hate how these Fordyce spots look, they almost look like some STD.

        What is strange about the fordyce spots (at least the ones I had) is my skin was raw or missing lots of layers where I had them. However, if I applied something that burned (something like undiluted apple cider vinegar), my lips would not burn there. But, if I applied something that burned on newly raw areas where skin exfoliated on bottom lip, it burned. It's like it was numb where fordyce spots were. I think some people may still feel pain where they have fordyce spots, but I never did.

            you will find healing there just a form of pimple... i have forcyde spots but i also occasionally get the white dots that can be gently pooped. they stick out of the skin and breakthrough were the forcyde spots are deeper in the tissue and can only really be seen when freshly peeled... the news ones should be cleared up after 3-4 days even if you just leave them.. i pressume

              You can't really see them unless you are up close but I don't want people thinking that I have some STD. Especially because most of my friends know that I had some lip problem that kept me in the house for like a year.

  In 2012 I was taking accutane for about 8,5 months. First two weeks 40 mg, then 20 mg and 20 mg to the end. I have hair follicles inflammation now, terrible EC... and of course I still have Fordyce Spots. I always had chapped lips and I bit them as hard as I could. But in 2011 I got Fordyce Spots on all over my lips.
  
  Today, after two CO2 laser treatments, accutane, tretinoin liquid, photodynamic therapy I still have EC, still have fordyce spots.
  
  And I will tell you one thing: EACH OF THESE methods of fithing fordyce spots ARE a terrible IDEA to begin with!!! After CO2 laser treatment my lips became only bigger. You would think that lips would cure after the tissue is vaporated and new flesh is born, but fordyce pots unfortunately come back. So don't even think about laser treatments or stuff like that.
  
  Anyways I was tested for HIV - negative, chlamydia - negative, HPV - 6,11 positive.
  
  I had biopsy of my lips to see if my FS are not related to the HPV. The laboratory test came negative.
  
  So... what I am doing now?
  
  In a couple of weeks I am going to the hospital to get examed towards Wilson's disease. If the tests come negative I will try the Colloidal Silver and Vita-Biosa. I've read that only High Quality colloidal silver does magic, the silver with high concentration / high level of silver particles, something like that. This is the only shit I got in mind. My urologist (yeah, I also have prostate inflammation) told me that my problems with lips might be triggered by my liver problems - I have Gilbert's Syndrome - terrible shit. So my only hope for now is that they will make my liver work better and I'll try silver and vita-biosa. You should read about these supplements. I have never tried them but a herbalist got me interested with them.
  
  What am I applying on lips right now?
  
  A protective ointment cream with vitamin A. It had cost me about $1,5. It's the best thing I have recently applied for my lips.
  
  P.S. OH!!! I also used Daivonex gel and Batrafen - both don't do anything. I don't recommend them. After Batrafen lip skin can get very inflammed, and Daivonex is hard to wash it off from the lips.

    I also wasn't absorbing vitamin A so it's interesting how a vitamin A ointment is helping your lips. Is this a real form of vitamin A or not a synthetic form like Accutane?
    
    I wouldn't take a high dosage of Colloidal Silver since I think it turned a man's skin permanently blue.

      The vitamin A ointment I am using is not even close to Accutane's retinoids. And it's not helping that significally. It's just the best thing I had on my lips. It's easy to apply it and it does not irritate lips like vaseline.
      
      About the Colloidal Silver ... yep, the super high dosage with LONG TERM of usage can really change your skin. More important - taking it while being exposed to sun is a must-turn-blue effect. But I have to boost my immune system somehow. Accutane screwed my stomach pretty bad. I have an uneven stomach mucous membrane surface. My stomach gets irritated very easily. I have gasses after eating gluten, so I quit eating it this year. Eating bread makes me farting all day. Accutane is the worst thing you can take for skin problems. Don't ever take this shit. Isotretinoin is a poison for your body and nothing else. There are hundreds of ways to fight Acne and stuff like that. Sometimes proper diet can do miracles.
      
      I still think I can cure my lips - from EC and Fordyce Spots. Fordyce spots can appear everywhere on mucouse membrane in your mouth. I had something like a cyst in my mouth which was really a agglomeration (?my bad English, sorry) of Fordyce Spots. It appeared after I irritated the membrane with my teeth. That also could be a thing - a teeth bacteria or just very very weak immune system that can't candle an irritation etc.
      
      Anyways, I'm thinking about starting exercising. I don't feel well recently but I think that physical activity might only help since I am sitting in front of computer for more than 10 hours a day.
      
      Oh, and one more thing. I also have Hiatus Hernia since 2008. Fordyce Spots appeared in 2011. But it doesn't have to be linked to lips problem. I must have my liver examed first and we'll see later.

  I guess there are a lot of u out there with fordyce spots on ur lips aswell as EC. I've got them for a few months now and are struggeling.
  
  Is there anything that can hide them? Some cure on the horizion? Making them not get bigger and more on the lips? They are just getting more and more. Don't really know how I will be able to have a normal conversation with someone if they spread.
  
  Having ec and fordyce spots on top of that is really hard. Don't know what to do anymore to be honest. I will just shut myself out of the real world more than I am atm if they spread.

  Scouted around youtube and found this video called "Fordyce spots cured with petty spurge" cant link the video. Released 7 days ago so kinda fresh.
  
  It's about a plant called "petty spurge", "Euphorbia Peplus".
