After posting this cure a couple of weeks ago. The question of what causes exfoliative cheilitis still remains unanswered. Well I came back to answer that question for my case. I experienced EC in a very similar way to most people in this forum. I ruled out bacterial and fungal with a variety of treatments in those categories. I have concluded that this was viral for me. The herpes simplex virus must have evolved into something different, something that doctors have never seen before. That is why doctors had no answers for why my lips kept peeling. There were no visible cold sores, so why would they think it was viral? I didn't realize how drinking milk, which containes the amino acid L-Lysine to greater ratio than L-Arginine, could change a persons life, but it sure has changed mine. The medical marijuana helped in many ways also from bringing down the inflammation and making the leave it alone method a painless experience this time around. Not letting oil touch my lips was a great method I used during the healing process. Refraining from alcoholic beverages was great for not drying out the body. So these steps I used made it possible for me not to use any topical products. I want to note, I've read cases where EC was caused by a fungal infection, a bacterial infection, but rarely a viral infection. I still believe EC is an autoimmnue disease caused by one of those 3 categories because the body refuses to heal the lips. Once you've figured out which category your EC falls into, you'll have a better chance at healing the lips. I inadvertently targeted the viral infection and that is why my lips healed so quickly, just a matter of weeks. These steps healed my lips and I wish everyone the same success I've had in finding a cure.
