Re: Cutaneous Larva Migrans / Hookworm

afox: I sent a variety of pics to the address you gave me and was given the message "delivery failed". I would be most happy to share them if I have an address. Since my last post I do have an update. One Friday afternoon after my husband calling me crazy for what I thought might be the last time ever, I got in the car and drove to UCLA Santa Monica. The e.r. doc actually examined my scalp AND looked at some of my pics. He was horrified and told me to get to my provider and get back to UCLA ASAP. He told me whatever this was I had, it was laying across the top of my head and brain. When I explained my provider refuses to refer me, he leaned over and firmly told me this: "if your doc will not look at your scalp and pics and refer you back to UCLA I will personally help you in pulling his license". Well, I did as told and am now being referred to Jules Einstein Eye Institute at UCLA. My ophthalmologist backed me up when questioned by my provider and had noted in my chart that he had seen a brown parasitic worm in my eye. I now know two extraordinary men and courageous doctors. I also was given a referral to UCLA Nuerology. I cried most the 2 hr drive home, cried when the dermatologist told me I have deep seated emotional problems, cried when my provider demanded a drug test and called me dillusional, cried when my psych told me it was not mental, to tell my doctor to get his head out of his a**, cried for fear I was crazy, cried for the loss of me, and cried for fear it might be too late for me after leaving the UCLA e.r. doctor. A lot of crying going on for a long time. I am not going to get my hopes up, with more than 10,000 types of parasites I doubt seriously to meet the medical criteria for illness, and in death and autopsy, the hope is even less that a coroner would care. My family would never say a word about parasites anyway. So, the provider tells me to start with the Eye Institute and if it is once again validated he or they, will refer me to a infectious disease or parasitologist doctor. If you truly are a professor or in this field of parasite hell I would be honored to have you take a look at my pics and if you are just joking, that is okay too, just tell me how to get them to you. Thanks so much. Hope everything is well, better, or improving for all my fellow sufferers. You are the only people I have to even read about like me, and I appreciate that so much. We are the brave, and while we may not always be feeling very strong, we have strength in numbers and a whole lot of prayers and hope for one another.
