Re: Cutaneous Larva Migrans / Hookworm
Yes, you need to take Ivermectin. You can get it at Tractor Supply. You don't need to get a prescription from the doctor. it's a little over $7.00 at Tractor Supply. Read my blog at thesickpelican.blogspot.com. You should pour hydrogen peroxide on your head to get the infection out, and you can dilute Apple Cider vinegar once it starts healing a bit. If you do the vinegar right away, it will burn like crazy. You can also get flea and tick shampoo at Tractor Supply that has permethin in it. Just be careful not to get it in yor eyes.
If you have floaters in your eyes, then you likely also have
parasites in your intestines and other parts of your body. Go slow with the Ivermectin - start with 50 lb dose, then gradually go higher. Drink a 8
oz glass of salt water each day to keep your bowels moving. If you have a high worm load, the ivermectin can actually block your intestine. Don't think this is only in your scalp, they have probably migrated to other parts of your body. After you take the ivermectin, you may feel adult
parasites thrash a bit in your body, if they have migrated. If you ever took corticosteroids, this condition could have become disseminated strongyloidiasis. I have had 10 stool tests all negative, and just now got a positive antigen test back. Don't wait, you can also put the ivermectin directly on your scalp. My vet told me to take it for 6 months - 5 days on and 5 days off. you have to go after the adults and then the babies over and over. They say it's only common in third world countries. That is not true. Be diligent about it. You can also put ivermectin on a qtip and put it in your ears to kill pinworms. I could actually feel them chewing my scalp and hear them move in my ears. All of that is gone now.
Feel free to write me with any questions. I wish you the best in taking care of this.
