Re: Despite 'Peacenik' Reputation, Bonobos Hunt And Eat Other Primates, Too

i have no bubble to be burst. sorry to burst your bubble bursting bubble.

i've eaten bloody raw livers, raw chicken, raw bloody marrow, all of it.

at the end of the day, for me, it is apparent that we aren't carnivores for the reasons that doug graham lays out in his books. it's as simple as this: i look at a bloody mess of meat and it just doesn't look appetizing. can i live on it? sure, been there.

the isolated instances of primates hunting and perhaps eating animals doesn't really sway me at all -- because of the word isolated. this is not normal behavior for them, and meat is not a substantial part of their diets. and you showed only one exception from a single tribe in the congo. yeah i know that they eat some insects too. bonobos remain frugivores. if a documentary filmaker staked out some teenagers and caught them sniffing glue, that does not make the glue-vores. it's abberrent behavior. the bonobo killing is probably more for dominance than sustenance. i don't mean this as a threat to your eating style, if it works for you then more power to you. i was deeply immersed in animals for a long time, and it was obvious that the cleaner i got the less i wanted and needed the meats. yes i ate clean organic animals, i ate them raw, cooked, every which way.

humans don't have canines, we don't have short intestinal tracts like carnivores, our saliva is mainly comprised of amylase. it's not very hard to see that we don't look like any other carnivores on the planet. we look like primates and primates are frugivores.

i'm not an idealogue either. i'd be very happy to be eating clean animals but it is apparent to me that this is not what human beings are meant to eat.

i think that if you are going to be a meat eater, raw is certainly where it's at, and i'm saying this from personal experience. the raw paleo people are into some serious healing. the cooked paleo people seem not to stick with it for a long time. it could be good for a short term stint.

after a certain amount of time the body becomes clean enough where you don't require the dense protein to rebuild. it's taken me nearly 20 years to approach this point, so i don't take it lightly and i can see how people will defend meat eating until death because of this.

if you look at the majority of the people who are doing the frugivore diet properly, that is getting enough calories in from fruits, they as a whole are about the healthiest, strongest group of people. neurotic? sure, some of them are, because they are still undergoing deep cleansing. and i'm saying this as a non-frugivore -- i don't have a horse in this race, but i would like to some day.
