Fasting completed this time around

Well, that's it for me. I made the decision to finish after 5 days for a few reasons:

BLOOD LOSS
I've been having an especially heavy and prolonged menstrual period and I'm concerned about not eating when losing so much blood. (The fast didn't bring it on, I've been taking natural progesterone and it's completely screwed up my cycle.)

INEXPERIENCE & RE-EDUCATION
I've learned so much from this brief encounter with fasting, that it's given me the incentive to go back to the drawing board and design a fast that is most suitable to me. Next time I won't attempt a water-only fast, I will use the water from either (or both) young green and mature brown coconuts. And I obviously have a lot more reading of the literature to do. I did an entire biochem course at uni, but now there are parts I need to revisit, plus comb through all the fasting literature out there, which appears to be more abundant than at first glance.

I MADE A FAST-BREAKING MISTAKE
Alarmed at the amount of blood loss I was experiencing, I took some P2 Detox powder to detoxify the excess oestrogen. As suspected, this had the effect of kicking my body into a different metabolic state. I experienced a return of hunger pangs and had to eat a salad.

Overall, I've learned a lot. I learned I should not fast when restricted by a time line, and when I have a mountain of work that needs doing. It needs to be a period of nothingness, where I can just meditate on healing and really go into and enjoy the experience thoroughly. I want to go into the desert and swim in the mineral springs and be blessed by the sunlight during my coconut retreat... I leave in just a few short weeks to find a suitable spot.

In the mean time I wish you all well and will post the link to the coconut forum for those who are interested.

Peace to all,
Fastingforlife.
