Imagine the risks that the Europeans faced when they sailed in the ships their fathers built, carved from trees, complete with compasses, musket, papyrus and ink, across the ocean to conquer the North American continent. They risked their lives, not for what they believed in, but rather, for what they did not believe in, which was the old way of life in the Old World.
Hell, compared to that, the risks associated with giving one's heart away is hardly laughable.
Usually, people who don't achieve sexual gratification by intimacy, have one or more substitutes.
