Re: Questions for Lynn..
I do have a full plate but was lucky that my particular regular classroom job has had very few students the last few months. I've had a fair amount of down time during the day I can research. We're at the end of the school year now so I'm kinda free...I'll disappear soon on posting as I've got to start studying again.
I don't think anyone really knows why
Iodine reduces estrogen...it might not actually reduce estrogen but be involved in the conversion process. Or it might be involved in blocking or restructuring the estrogen receptors on the cells.
So estradiol (the form your body uses the most) doesn't convert into other forms of estrogen like estrone (this one's linked to cancer)and moves the conversion more to estroil. Dr. Jonathan Wright says this and has done informal blood tests to show it. Also many women's experience is that get more "drippy" on iodine. Estroil is involved in vaginal lubrication.
Estriol is a very weak estrogen so doesn't really seem to touch the brain receptors that vasodilate causing hot flashes and night sweats. Estrone does better and is produced in fat cells....one reason fatter middle-age women who lose weight suddenly may find hot flashes happen more often.
So could be
Iodine moves the conversion more to estroil which isn't strong enough to work on the receptors correctly and some women on
Iodine have more hot flashes and night sweats. I've not heard this is huge problem though from the women using it on rhythmic living.
My experience has been that a lot of the problems menopause was giving me...mainly night sweats and inability to sleep through the night are mitigated. I find I wake up hot at night but fall back asleep quickly. If I use enough bio-identical that's reduced but off iodine my sleep is much poorer even on hormones.
Wish I had a better answer for you......the 64 million dollar question is exactly what iodine does to estrogen!
I'm betting whatever it does to our own estrogen is doing to the xeno-estrogens out there also. try to watch this tape if you have a chance before May31

She's a good speaker on endocrine disruptors. ACAM is removing it after May 31
