Wow, maybe I'm way off in my thinking! In the story of Jesus multiplying the fish and loaves to feed the crowds, was that also symbolism? In my thinking that was another miracle that Jesus did to convince them that he was the Son of God and I took it to mean that he literally multiplied the fish and bread for them to eat. I know that the term "bread" is used to describe Jesus and a symbol of Him, but I didn't think it meant it was only used symbolically and never as literal food to eat. Wow, I'm even more confused!! Guess I should be studying my bible more!
