Re: No bread - then why in the Bible?
spelt is actually tasty and definitely more expensive. i switched to that a couple of years ago. now, i dont eat it much because i am working toward a fruitarian diet. but hey, as everyone else has confessed, i am not there yet. funny thing, i use the spelt for toast with eggs or to eat tuna(deep sea tongul only) or some other sandwich like beef or turkey. i have had one tuna sandwich since the holidays and probably two other slices with eggs. i have not found a good tasting sprouted bread. i do eat a lot of corn chips with fresh organic salsa embellished with tons of cilantro, but thats for mercury chelation. i hope to get rid of that in my mouth soon.
anyway, you can get spelt flour and cook with it, but it takes adjustments in recipes. it browns much easier and turns out lighter in texture. it is used in a lot of french pastries.
i dont know about kamut, but i have seen it around. never tried it. i dont need another habit to break!!
if youre looking for a change for your family that they can live with, i got a lot of benefit just making sure i got certified organic everything. the next step would be everything as fresh and raw as possible. those things do make a huge difference. believe me, i know! and go for the molasses. dont buy another grain of sugar or piece of candy. i was even getting organic chocolate for a while!
