Re: No bread - then why in the Bible?

That is my main concern - my kids are sugar obsessed!!! I bought a dehydrator so that I could dehydrate fruits so that they could eat that instead, but they don't like it! I remmeber eating dehydrated pineapple and it tasted just like candy - I thought they would like it! But they don't! Every time they get their allowance, they go to the store and get all the candy and soda they can afford!! I've tried the lime with stevia as an alternative to soda, and even though they like that, they still seem to need the soda!! As for bread - they like toast/bread sandwhiches. That's why I was asking about bread alternatives to begin with. From all I've read about grains, I know my kids don't need anything more interfering with their attitudes/psyches. And before you can even think it, yes, I will admit that I have little control over this area, and I need to step in and regain the control. But I'm trying to provide healthy alternatives to their bad habits and I keep coming up short. There is fresh fruit in this house at all times - and I encourage them to eat it. And they do, but they still seem to need thier sugar (candy and soda). My health has been deteriorating so much that I've been able to control my own cravings for the most part. My weakness right now is tortilla chips and salsa. I found organic chips and salsa and tried it, and it was great! When I tried the old regular salsa I could actually taste the sugar in it!! Right now I'm looking for healthy substitutes that I can use with my kids and I know they love their bread/toast - and that's why I jumped on it when I heard you talk about spelt. I don't have a lot of money, so what I do spend, I want it to be spent wisely. So rather than just go out and buy anything, I wanted to be informed and make wise choices to get the most health for my money. Well, this post has been long enough!
