Re: I am out of options (another Endo sufferer)
Hi there, I too was diagnosed with Endometriosis when i was 20 (I am now almost 22). Since then i have tried the pill (without taking the
Sugar tablets, to surpress periods, which didn't work) and Provera in tablet form (completely stopped the bleeding, but i suffered depression).
I had the Mirena IUD inserted in April by a gynachologist, and i honestly have to say it was the worst day of my life. The cramps were survere immediately, and they had to do an immediate ultra sound to determine it was sitting right, then i was injected pain relief. For the three months following the insertion, i experienced cramps (ranging from moderate to survere) almost everyday. It's now been in for five months in total, and i still experience moderate cramping an average of twice a week. Also, i have been bleeding everyday since the insertion (altho this could be due to my no longer taking provera, and my body still adjusting). The bleeding is only light, and i've only had one proper period since April (which was horribly painful).
Goodluck with what ever you decide to do! -don't mean to sound negative, but i wish someone had told me about these possible side effects before i went ahead and had it inserted.
