Re: Mirena IUD and depression?

I too became moody on the pill and decided not to take it and try the Mirena. I have experienced the worst Depression starting with the first ovulation after insertion. I have had to start taking Paxil and I am still fighting it. According to berlex, the maker of the Mirena the Depression and Acne that I have developed will likely go away if I will give it 3 to 6 months. I have had it 2 and 1/2 months. And although with the Paxil I am better, I am still fighting it. I do not recommend Mirena and wish I had never had it put in. It is expensive and if you have a tendancy for Depression with hormone therapy be worned it can happen with Mirena. Berlex noted depression as a side effect in clinical trials.
