Re: Please don't feel sad for us...
Sorry for the delay in returning/replying. Life! :-)
Thanks for explaining...now I understand fasting in your faith a little better. I, however, don't agree that it could be the same God only partly because of what you shared. You see, in my faith and thru the words of God in the Bible, fasting isn't a means to attain the reward of everlasting life in Paradise and the wiping clean of sins completely. Fasting is simply a way for an individual to cleanse the body in varying degrees(beyond 40 days would have the body itself begin to be consumed) so the focus on yielding to the mind of Christ can happen without physical hindrances. Everlasting life and sin debt relief is provided upon believing and receiving Christ...not thru deeds or rituals no matter how effective they can be(such as charity or fasting or prayer).
I don't think there is any reason to be unkind in discussing what we believe. Do you see that you are working to have something that I have been given because of what Jesus did? If your faith embraces the Bible as being from the same God, then why do you think there is the contradiction concerning how to be righteous???
