language of the bible...

Daizy,

When you are thoroughly steeped in the dogmatic language of traditional Christianity, there are no 'enlightened/esoteric/ progressive' styled words or concepts in that dictionary.

Their language and terms come from the bible and church doctrine, a doctrine that defines precisely what they can and cannot believe and it has a whole array of negative verbal terms and ideas against the non-believers, the heretics and such. (gee, that's us!)

Some people are caught up in this system and that is all they know. (repeat this sentence twice)

Ms #30230 actually feels bad for us that we aren't going to saved. She is sincere about that. Both you and I know that isn't how it works. The bible tells her so and she believes it with every fiber of here being. She is sincere and means well, however her language and concepts are not well received over here.

That is a pity. WE should be bigger than that. (as I mentioned elsewhere). Can't we be like Jesus and lead by example? Show love, understanding and *patience* (and thicken up our skin a bit)... even with those with whom we disagree... and with those who tell us our souls are lost and try to use the bible to prove it. (Souls can't be lost, you know that)

So, what are we going to do? Argue? Take offense when people post from the language of the Orthodox viewpoint, a viewpoint that hasn't changed much at all since the time of Paul the Apostle? One that believes unquestionably in a simple history book that was codified and amended by the Roman Emperor Constantine, one that spawned the Crusades and the Inquisition, one that burned heretics, hung witches and hunted down, and expelled or killed whole countries full of of Jews...

I could go on, but you get the point.

It is concepts from, and beliefs and language of the bible we are dealing with here. And some actual sincere people that know no other belief but these. Therefore one must keep all this in mind.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
